Which shops and products do you miss most from the UK.

I actually don't miss named shops as such but what I do miss is a proper shopping centre where you can park your car and then shop for everything you need in one area. We spend a fortune in fuel running about all over the area to do a weekly shop as everything is so spread out!
The items I would love to be able to buy here are Anchor Butter, Aldi's jelly beans, and Elmlee long life double cream. Not much if you think about it.

Frankly, there isn't anything I miss. It is all available here, or via the internet.

Marigolds - the real thing, Body Shop vitamin E body lotion, clothes from Tesco, Asda etc which I can see before I buy, Boots products full stop! I know most stuff is available online, but miss just picking them off the shelves without having to pay postage. All small price to pay for life here, and fortunately many friends coming & going bring in stuff. :hurray

It is the specialist shops I miss. You can't buy dental tape easily here (not floss) and floss threaders for dental bridges are not available at chemists - god knows what the Cypriots use. O ring seals is another thing - they do keep some here but not like the shop I used in UK that sold only O rings and seals, they had every size made. Plumbing bits also you have to replace a whole toilet ball valve because they don't keep the torbex washer (cost £1 shipped from UK).

Food, not anything, we never buy any ready meals and are more than happy with the fresh food here, far better quality than where we lived in UK.

Dr Pepper (particularly the diet/zero) almost impossible to find here.

Hi Dave. Wife and I like a particular brand of dental floss and we end up buying from the USA, via. Ebay in the UK. Buy 10 packs at a time and that keeps us and our daughter going for a year.

I was looking for a particular size of 'O' Ring recently and, like you, was bemoaning the fact that there wasn't a store which had a large range. I phoned my electrician and he told me of a car engine components shop, about 1km north of the Time Out kiosk. He said all the diving guys go there for their O-Rings. I popped in and they had what I wanted. Happy to provide details if you're interested. Lloyd

What is this place you call the UK ?? ..

I miss ...
The crime
The PC brigade
The muggings
The taxes
The Weirdos
The red tape
The price of petrol
The cost of living
The police state
The safety for children

.
.
.
.
Anyone care to add to that ?

Thank you Lloyd - if you could post the name and a closer location, others searching later might find it helpful.

We get guests to bring out little things. In fact one of out paying tourists (who we had never met) offered to bring anything small we needed. He went round the dentists in Bolton till he found the threaders we wanted. We mostly get very nice tourists.

Oh Alan, there was a sex shop near Alexander The Great Hotel, but it closed down. Obviously you didn't go there often enough.

OK, best shop for 'O' rings:

As you come back in to Paphos from Chlorakas, heading towards the Time Out kiosk, you will pass a Bank of Cyprus on the LHS. About 100m further on is a set of traffic lights. Turn left there. The motor accessory shop you need is about 100m along on the RHS. Non-descript premises and name - but they're good for O Rings :)
