sounds most unlikely to me. With the unemployment here I would think the road licensing people would throw every objection in the book at the idea. Plus the fact that you could get a Cypriot to do the job for half the money and he would know where he was going, he could speak the language and he would already have a place to live. :leaving

This is what they did in Malta last year when they got rid of all the old vintage buses and brought in the new ones. Now there are lots of British drivers. :greetings

Well according to the internet Arriva operate in 12 countries throughout Europe, so I suppose there is a possibility of them coming to Cyprus!!!!

I hope not
as the bus service here is brilliant........the busses allways look clean.....why should the cypriot folks give up their jobs for usually flithy dirty english busses that never run on time and english bus company
if it happens
what a shame

I think it is unlikely that the local bus company will be taken over, as I don't think it would be attractive to a buyer. It is a recent company with a new bus fleet, and therefore must be carrying quite a bit of debt.

As to the comment on using British drivers, there have definately been British drivers on the local busses in the past, and there are British drivers on the taxis, safari jeeps, wedding buses, and circular tour buses. All these have to have a local psv or taxi licence, but not necessarily be Greek speaking. So opportunities for taxi and psv drivers already exist without a take over.
