Here is a message I got just now from a friend......

'Our villa was just burgled and the police say it is a team working Coral bay and heading to Sea Caves area along the coast..be careful friends'

Just so you are aware, those that live in that area.

Wendy.

When you let people into the country with no money or work it is not surprising that theft increases dramatically.A lot of these people live like this in their own countries and just export it to another.
When I mentioned the rise in crime to the neighbour hood watch Policeman in Peyia he said " they are hungry, what would you do?" While I applaud his humanity it is not the positive policing I would hope for.
Every body has to be vigilant these days until governments refuse entry to people who cannot support themselves, and deports very quickly people who are caught committing crime. But of course the Human Rights brigade will put a stop to that idea and unfortunately it is never them that get burgled.

B*******!!!! Hope they didn't get much or cause too much damage. I know that really isn't the point but feel so sorry for your friends.

Why do people think its OK to do this?

Beverley, I don't applaud the Policeman's humanitarian view. That's why people DO this - too many do gooders and they get away with it usually with a pat on the head!! :tickedoff :tickedoff

I'm with you, until the Authorities stop cow-towing to the Human Rights brigade, things will only get worse!!! :banghead

Right, I've got vertigo now so will get down off my soap box

LOL..A soapbox can sometimes be a lonely place as I know to my cost, but it does not stop me trying to make things better.

Hope your Vertigo goes soon. The Doctor recommended dark chocolate for mine recently (truthfully) so maybe you should try that. xxx

What would YOU do if you had no dough and a hungry family. I know its not right, but if people make it easy for thieves to get into their houses what can we expect.

We were burgled in February and as long as no-one touched Mrs Emgee, we will eventually get over it.

whats all this about hungry family's and no money bit?
stealing is wrong full stop and cannot be treated as acceptable behavior
plus
this is more like organised crime
the thefts in Lydil, M&S, Debs etc etc where done by organised groups of people
who knew exactly how to pick pocket, rob your car and steal
the cash machine in Coral Bay that had a false front put onto it.....was targeted crime the same as we have had in the uk
not good
