Fetta corner is in that area and if its the one you are looking for then I can highly recommend. We have eaten there many times and the Meze is about the best we have had here in 5 years.
Its used mainly by Cypriots and is packed most nights of the week. I have the phone no as booking is essential .Its the one on the corner at opposite Agrotti travel.

I drove down that way last night , after I left the office.
when you pass the town hall on your left, at the bottom of that street right in front of you..
There are 2 places , 1 was featured In the sunday mail suppliment
and even the one next door looked ok..
I dont know if any of them are the one your talkin about ?

Hi Neil
Fetta corner was featured recently in the press.
Its the one on the point of the triangle facing the travel agent Agrotti Travel.
Here is the number 26937822
Iam sure you will enjoy. On Friday evenings they have live Cypriot music . However every night is usually very busy from around 8.30pm onwards so booking is a must.

Another good one is Kiniras Taveran. I was there quite recently with a dear friend  and the food was lovely. It's tucked away on the right hand side going down Makarios Ave.

I remember it well. A year or two back, and on my way out after a meal, I fell over and completely smashed one of the glass tables in the foyer. Not looking where I was going. And yes, since you ask, I did have a glass of wine (or three) with my meal :cheers Lloyd

I bet you felt like a right plonker

Anyway !! I could not resist, I went to the taverna by the town hall
the one that was in the mail on sunday suppliment..
It was very nice.
we had a meze for 4 and the dishes were all very tasty
I would say just the right amount of food as well.
Still some left by the time we were all full , but not loads of waste.
I also lked the old style building, with the high ceilings ..

The Laona taverna is also one to try. It is near Kiniris, but I think it is only open during the daytime. It has had some good write-ups and the food was delicious when Phil and I went one lunch time.

If it opens during the evenings I will add that to the Taverna Club list, too.
