The teenager who has been found guilty an a Cypriot court has caused a commotion,in today's news (TV & PAPERS) the Foreign Secretary is speaking to the Cypriot legal system and his counter part with a view to getting the sentence overturned, stating it was a miscarriage of justice and an unfair trial and all that legal jargon.

Ironically they are considering taking it to the European courts (DID we not vote to leave that system).

As you good people are over there what are your thoughts, over here we have heard nothing about till now.

As for leaving the EU
Assuming the European Parliament also gives the green light, the UK will formally leave the EU on 31 January with a withdrawal deal.
But that will not be the end of the Brexit story.
The UK will enter a period, known as the transition, until 31 December 2020. Mr Johnson has said this date will not be extended.
Although the UK will cease to be an EU member, the trading relationship will remain the same and it will continue to follow the EU's rules, such as accepting rulings from the European Court of Justice.

The British High Commissioner has also stepped in...saying that they are concerned and not happy with this case..they never step in...so interesting that he also feels justice has not been upheld

What I do think is that reading the press and listening to her Lawyer
They are saying that she has not had a fair trial

I have been following this case over the months...in her trial ....her barrister w@s saying that she had not been examined properly ....that she was not checked for bruising to her upper body ...the girl is saying that one of the boys pinned her down with his knees on her shoulders .....they barrister was also saying that there was evidence of rape to her body ...but the judge would have none of this put into the courtroom and over ruled ...saying that she was not being tried for rape ...the boys had legal representation immediately ....she was given none...judge ruled out all evidence of rape...saying that she was being tried for misleading the police ...her barristers are up in arms !

She took on Cyprus police force and justice system

Was never going to be an easy case

Today's headline news is that the mother has sanctioned a boycott of Cyprus, rather than try to explain it please read for yourselves.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50963049

In my opinion again not all the facts have been disclosed and it is the media causing issues, I doubt that British will boycott the island would you.

Yes, I think that they will, especially now is when people start booking their holidays en masse. There are plenty of other places to go. Those people who have always come here will continue to come, but I genuinely feel that a lot of people will be put off.

This story is still all across the UK papers and will carry on until after the sentencing. Then we will have the wait for the appeal.

This story and Brexit are both going to! dent the economy here

My then 26 year old niece a couple of years ago went from holidaying in Paphos to Ayia Napa
For a few days
She had holidayed before in the party place Ibiza ...

And she just wanted to leave Ayia Napa saying how horrendous it was

She said young people of both sexes where urinating and vomiting in the street
Sex was going on everywhere with anybody

She called it Dia Napa

And couldn,t wait to leave 48 hours later
Saying that she would never return

And she hasn,t

Paphos is a different holiday destination

It will stay front and early page news until a better tale comes along that can have great pictures to sell papers.

I feel she might get Trumped on the front page very soon and all will return to normal.

Lets face it. We will never know the truth about this, bit anyone (male, female, hermaphrodite, or whatever) that goes there for some kind of hookup or cheap boozy sex pork fest, leaves themselves open to being on one end or another of a situation like this. She has to also take a massive amount of responsibility for what may or may not have happened.

Just hope for all concerned that there is early closure so everyone can move on.

Certainly no winner(s) here, and it's not just the people directly involved that are the losers as this whole incident is having far reaching effects.

In my opinion, the solution to save face on all sides is the judge to just sentence to time served in custody then deport her, that way the problem just goes away, and as someone once said, today's news tomorrows fish and chip paper.

From today's BBC news, make of it as you want, as I said in my last post just deport her and that way all parties get a result.

Following you advice the girl wouldn't get what she wants, she'd be stuck with a criminal record for the rest of her life. Not saying whether she should have one or not, that's another question!

Bassman, I'm sorry but you live in cloud cuckoo land. You post irrelevant stuff from donkeys years ago, stuff that's meaningless to most of the members here who live in today - not 50 years ago.
In the past you have posted rude and irrelevant remarks to many members, yet you feel you are a valid contributor. Sorry, absolutely no way. And then, when members respond accordingly with ascerbic comments you whinge and whine to management about being picked on, simple Bassman, if you can't take it don't give it. Face up to and accept your own comments without whingeing like a baby and just move on. Try posting relevant comments instead of just your experiences from 50 years ago, just might gain you some credibility instead of derision. May be a slim chance, but think about it.

Exactly Old Twister. very well put, she would have it on record that she is a convicted criminal if she accepted the judgement.

Three of the scumbags once back in Israel have admitted to having had sex with the young lady whilst others filmed.

Well as I said in one of my previous post's this is what I expected the Cypriot system to do, they have got egg on their faces in the way they handled the case, so off load her get the spotlight off them which is what they have done.
As one person previously pointed out, there are no winners here only losers, we will never know the whole truth of this issue as to what went on in that room, only those present will know and only those who were not there will speculate.
Lets hope this now goes away, as I said before today's news tomorrows fish and chip paper.

I believe that they intend take up the matter with the EU regarding the conduct of the Cypriot Police and of course the court who should have thrown the case out.

Of course this is their right as at the time it took place against a citizen of a member state

I was told by a travel agency that fewer people are booking holidays for Cyprus and that bargain price holidays are available.

If this young girls story is to be believed and is the truth
Then it absolutely should NOT go away

Her side of the story is of a truly horrible premeditated gang rape

AS Migmogs says, if this is true then this is a definite case of injustice, I doubt if she will get anywhere with this, I would not hold much faith that the Cypriot Justice system will over turn this.

Going forward this is scary and could possibly happen again to other young girls who just want a good time, they could also face this type of vicious assault without aid or help from the Police, especially if they are British, this type of crime could go unpunished because of fear of not being believed and being locked up.

I've yet to see you post anything constructive, all your contributions are snipes, you must lead a troubled life to need to get satisfaction for this. whereas I lead a very active life with my family and my music. You can get help you know.
Do take care.

I think it would be best all round if this topic was dropped from the public domain - the articles in the media get more far fetched by the day. How can the girl recover emotionally and mentally from this and get on with her life? Yes, I appreciate she wants to clear her name, but at what cost?

I think ...that if what she is saying now that she is out of Cyprus is true
Then she has every right to clear her name

And to let the truth be known
If I was her...I would be chasing a conviction of the young men involved

At any cost, her name was dragged through the dirt by the corrupt Cypriot legal system. Once the Israelis were back in Israel admitted that they'd raped her
