The clear wishes of the majority of the voters to Leave the EU being respected at last despite the undemocratic manoeuvres of many, not all, Remainers to reverse or even cancel it. The antics of some pro-EU civil servants, Parliamentarians & academics will no doubt be the subject of many "Truth & Reconciliation-type" sub-committees to reveal the true reason for their absolute treachery in some cases. Don't be surprised if we discover that many were blackmailed for past peccadillos, monetary or sexual, to adopt a hostile anti-democratic position – Edward Heath clearly was. Throughout the three years of Brexit not once did the Remain side give one compelling reason to Remain. You have to ask what person in their right mind would willing surrender their country's independence to an unelected foreign body, the EU. On Saturday the 1st February 2020, I will become a European re-joiner, not an EU Re-joiner, and support re-joining Europe again but in a Common Market of independent sovereign states, as I voted for in the early 70's. There are many of the 27 European nations in the EU that are just waiting to see the UK's progress and jump ship a re-start the Common Market, with NATO as its defence. |

Great Britain refers to the island to distinguish it from Brittany. It has nothing to do with power or independence. |

We all know that the EU is far from perfect, but I have no doubt whatsoever that we would have been better off as part of the EU. Now we will have greater difficulty with travel, customs allowances, residency and a whole range of other things, before we even start on the EU wide policing, medical research and so on, much of which was based in the UK and is now moving to mainland Europe so not only do we lose jobs, we also lose access to these services. The UK has no trade deals in place. Boris is talking big, but nobody has any real idea how this will all end up. And, don't forget, we may have been paying into the EU, but what about all the money we took back, including the many millions in farm subsidies. The UK government is now going to have to pay that themselves and farmers will also have to cope with no direct access to Europe to sell meat and crops. It sounds like I am in the minority but I really do believe that the UK has made a huge mistake and we will suffer the consequences for many years to come. PS, apart from not paying money to Europe, what do those who supported Brexit feel that we will actually gain from this? |

Whatever happens I hope the British regain their optimism and work together to ensure the best outcome for all. The hatred and the vitriol is still going on and it really isn't helping anyone. We survived 2 world wars and put ourselves together again from a far worse position than we are in now. |

Quote: We survived 2 world wars and put ourselves together again from a far worse position than we are in now. I don't think the british population were as divided during the wars as they appear to be now. What I don't understand is why the 'Remainers' believe the BS that comes from Brussels & disrespect their own government? I'm not so naive as to think our politicians aren't economical with the truth, but at least they were elected! I'm also waiting for all the traitors identified during the Brexit process to be wheeled out & shot - starting with Corbyn! He is being allowed to take his time to wander off into obscurity, why not give him a swift end? |
