WEll - how much have you saved? the Coronavirus has certainly had an impact on my spending.

Normally we we shop twice a week, walking round we often bought items on impulse, when we finished shopping we called in called into Costa and had a coffee which on average cost £5.50 for two of us.
Once a week we called into our local garden centre and had coffee £10.50 for two of us, at the same time we bought the odd plant and bits for the garden or flowers for the house rough cost £30 on plants and flowers.

Fuel for the car was round about £80 per month just running around shopping and visiting friends (fuel dearer here).

Now we only go out once a week for food, we have worked it out, with the reduced choice in the supermarket and no where open, we have saved nearly £300 per month and if you converted that into Euros at a rate of €1.10 per pound that is €330 give or take.

So how is your bank balance

Same here. I am one of the unlucky ones who has to stay at home for 12 weeks.
As a result we are having to rely on neighbours and local help centres to get our groceries. (No home delivery slots anywhere).
We feel we need to just ask for the bare essentials rather than anything exotic so our savings are considerable.
However! Himself now owns and plays an electric guitar ( care of Amazon) and we have just ordered a parasol base and a BBQ cover so that has used some of the savings!
I do miss having a meal out once or twice a week but most of all I miss hugging!

Stay safe and well everyone.xx

Well, I am spending less, but earning nothing, so definitely worse off! :-(

Can’t fully get my head round this
Honestly not meaning to bring doom and gloom BUT:-

“Extremely high risk people have to stay at home for 12 weeks” ( I am in this category)

Then what?

Are all us ‘oldies’ suddenly immune?
If you go out after 12 weeks what’s to say you still won’t be infected the first day you go out from some idiot who couldn't be bothered to follow the rules?

If you are ‘tested’ and show negative
What’s to stop you leaving the ‘testing centre’ and picking it up the next day?

And in answer to the original question, I am getting a month to the gallon

Message for Beverly. Bev Asda have delivery slots available to the extremely vulnerable and they will let you book a recurring slot every week so that you are not constantly worrying on how you can get food delivered. They should have you on their list from the Government.
Take care both of you

Hi there.
Registered with Asda, no slots available, don't seem to have got me on their list, same with Sainsburys. Local volunteer looking into why.
Glad to hear that you are being looked after.
Have sent you messages but you are not picking them up. xxxx
