Last week they were complaining that they were more at risk from the Wuhan Bat Virus. It seems that they have not managed to conflate that with a lack of social distancing. |

Its great to see people protesting to press their beliefs and doing so in an ordinary manner. Sadly many of these protests are infiltrated and hijacked by others who want to create chaos. There are many things (IMO) wrong with many issues and the method/banner of democracy has failed many so protests are a natural outlet. |

By protesting about the death of one man in the US,( horrific as it was) these "protesters" risk the lives of millions ! Oh, the irony of it all. |

I agree Bev. It makes me so angry when we have been locked in for 12 weeks. It also makes me angry that the police don't appear to be wearing masks so are at risk through no fault of their own. It is deemed illegal to go out in groups of more than 6 so Cressida Dick wants to get tough and fine every single one of them. Protests( in this format) are NOT socially acceptable at this time not even in the USA where it happened! If it was left to me I would use tear gas and rubber bullets here. We can not let this mobs rule culture continue, many, many other decent people have been killed, some black, some white and no protests made. The Officers responsible are in Jail under a murder charge so what is the problem? |

Its not just about one mans death. That may be the catalyst they cling to but people now feel so disenfranchised all over the world that protests are taking place. |

I come from a multi racial family, I am not a racist There are lots of choices out there for all and absolutely the majority of people choose great careers But some young people sadly choose gang culture and violence from an early age that is endemic in their own societies..thus violent drug, knife and gun culture behavior is rife ..so yes they do rightly get arrested...in Manchester alone there are places where no one can walk ...even the police don,t go in...it is so violent with Somalian refugees I was at London Kings college Hospital waiting for a taxi...I was told it would be too violent for me as a woman to walk-in broad daylight outside of the hospital grounds and the staff organized a safe taxi company to pick me up ... a Black Afro caribean man was stood next to me and we got chatting as I waited ...and he said I hate these filthy Africans ...an African man was stood at the other side side of me . ...his hatred of what he called Filthy Africans who spit and live in filth everywhere was palpable I don,t want gangs of any colour violently changing societies, we are now facing this in Cyprus in Chlorakas To hold this man George Floyd as a martyr is even by his own families thoughts not right. His own brother came onto tv to say ...you all need to go home. There is no argument . The officer murdered this man and will serve time after his trial Yes absolutely Black lives matter ....but sadly these demonstrations although peaceful by the majority ..the scenes in London where truly horrendous ...a police officer down and they charged at her ....and threw bikes at the horses legs....these are just out and out thugs ....but by not distancing they also have put their own lives in even more danger as they are more at risk from the virus and are in a high at risk group. The ones who became violent are all seen in video taunting the officers whilst carrying their phones...desperately trying to cause a reaction that they could throw the race card at When the wards are full in the next few weeks will they be screaming at the nurses, drs and ambulance men and women trying so hard to save their lives? No they will understand to late that yes their lives do matter and there has been no need for this! When a lot those poor officers now get the virus and pass it onto their own families. Those officers did not even have masks on for protection Sorry rant over ...but I am absolutely fed up of the race card and blame game being abused so much |

No way will I defend what happened to George Floyd and the police involved should feel the full force of the law ..... but, if you Google George Floyd Criminal Record you will find out more of this upstanding martyr the whole world seems to be mourning including many terms in jail and a long one for how he and a number of others burgled a house and he held a gun to the pregnant house owners stomach. |

Interesting to read migmogs comment about Kings College Hospital in London as I lived in that area (Camberwell, Peckham, Brixton, West Norwood) in the 1970s. Living among a community composed mostly of people from the Caribbean I always felt safe, even when returning home from very late shifts at the hospital. In those days there were police on duty inside the hospital and staff were regularly advised not to be in the area after dark. A regular user of public transport to get to work and using Brixton underground station to get to Victoria, it was only after the Brixton riots in early 1981 (it was believed by the local community that a stabbed youth died as a result of police brutality) that I decided to leave London to pursue my career elsewhere - family were worried about me! |

In Greater Manchester there were I grew up were no go zones, for example Moss side riddled was with non whites, parts of Ashton and Hyde there were the white gangs, again no go areas, all stirring up trouble for the authorities. In 1973 I left and joined the Army, after basic training I was posted to Germany and met up with a Afro Caribbean guy (not going to name) who came from Moss side, we became best mates and until last year when he died, he was one of the funniest gentlest person who you could have as your friend. At his funeral I am not ashamed to say I shed a tear, his family and his mates were very comforting to me and I miss him. I asked him a few years ago why there is hatred and racism in the world, his reply was direct and simple - IGNORANCE. His next comments shocked me, people on both sides need an excuse to stir up trouble, be it over religion or in some cases the easiest handle to grab is - RACISM. - HE SAID - LIKE RELIGION WILL NEVER GO AWAY |

Ignorance and lack of or bad education is a problem In Massachusetts, the memorial to the 54th Massachusetts Regiment was attacked and vandalised by Black Lives matter campaigners Had they checked they would have found that The 54th Massachusetts were a short lived mainly black regiment of 1100 VOLUNTEERS, who fought with considerable distinction during the US civil war. All my life I have met people from all over the world, of all shapes and sizes, of many different religions and of many colours. Never have I treated them with anything other than respect, the same respect I expect from them. As I have got older I must admit to having become a bit cynical and not as trusting as I once was but it has not made a difference to how I treat people I meet. I have opinions like everybody else even though that seems to be something I am not supposed to have. I believe in standing up for the underdog and helping others but not at the expense of decency. Some people blame everyone but themselves for failure, the race card is used and abused. This latest round of "protests" are an excuse to loot and burn, maim and kill and deface symbols of true heroism and selflessness. I am sickened by it and any sympathy I may have had is over. |

This happened to me in 2010 .... My husband was an inpatient in Kings College Hospital ...we had travelled down from the North West for specialist neurological tests ....his bed was by a blocked up fire escape door ...we where told that the reason the fire escape door was locked and baracaded was to stop thieves breaking into the hospital for drugs ....one bed next to my husband and one opposite where two young black boys who had been stabbed with all of their families around them.... I was staying in a hotel near to Tower Bridge Staff where adamant that I would not be safe if I walked alone outside of the hospital And that I would be in danger They wouldn,t even let me flag down a taxi Saying that they would order the taxi for me to keep me safe I lived in North London in the early 1970,s and felt like you very safe at the time Times sadly change places as do peoples |
