A total of about 7000 passengers flew in and out of Larnaca Airport in the first week since it reopened on June 9, the Cyprus News Agency reports.
It said there were a total of 85 flights to and from the airport over the period of June 9 to 15. Of these 42 incoming flights brought in 2950 passengers. Another 4039 left on 43 flights.
Regarding repatriation, there were 19 flights — nine brought 618 passengers to Larnaca. Another 608 left on 10 flights.
Commercial flights to Larnaca Airport were carried out by Wizz Air (Sofia, Iasi, Budapest, Varna and Vilnius), Aegean (Athens and Thesaloniki), Cyprus Airways (Athens), Bulgaria Air (Sofia) and Austrian Airlines (Vienna).

The first commercial flight to land at Paphos airport since the coronavirus restrictions, and which will be operated by Ryanair, will arrive on Sunday, according to airport operator Hermes.
“I would like to inform you on behalf of Hermes Airports that on Sunday 21st there will be the first arrival at Paphos airport, after the restart of Cyprus airports’ operation on June 9,” a spokesman informed the Cyprus Mail on Wednesday.

The Ryanair flight is scheduled to arrive at the airport at 7pm from Thessaloniki, and minister of transport, Yiannis Karousos, along with members of the media will be at the facility to welcome the first passengers, the spokesman added.

I guess we will have to wait until at least 05July'20 to discover if the 'second wave' of Covid-19 arrived with it!

I'd suggest those of us in the 'at risk' group would be wise to consider our options.

My plan is to stay in self-imposed isolation until we are informed if there are new cases arising.

We shall carry on as normal. Which is avoid crowds. Wear mask when in shops or any busy places. Continue to disinfect all purchases and the vehicle as well. Taking no risks

That’s what we have done ....excepting that I am not disinfecting purchases brought home anymore...I have always washed fruit and vegetables before they have gone into my fridge even before covid...so that I could reach in and just use them ...so still washing fruit and vegetables.

The new breakthrough of the anti inflammatory drug Dexamethsone is a brilliant breakthrough
And definitely has been proved now to save a third of lives of those where so poorly that they needed to be on a ventilator ...or 20% of those who where poorly who where on Oxygen therapy ...this medicine is already a proven medicine ...is cheap...and only 10 days of 6 mgs per day needed for big effects....It does not though help those who have covid symptoms only ...it has to be those who lungs are severely affected and are in hospital situation they are so poorly .....a great uk scientists break through ...

Also taking vitamin D has again definitely been proven to help

We are getting more medicines in our amour ...not enough yet to fully combat this disease but a good start

Dr John Campbell’s pod casts are well worth a watch he is upto date and upto speed on covid
One is about the breakthrough with Dexamethasone and the other one is an update that includes scientists from France on the benefits of taking vitamin D

We have been taking vitamin d since it was first thought it might help - probably March.Whether or not it helps I don't know but cannot see that it can do any harm so 1vitamin c and 1 vitamin d each morning. We have them from Healthspan who I know deliver to Cyprus.

Just in case people continue to choose to ignore the danger from visitors arriving from abroad, here's the latest official assessment;

In the past two weeks, 26 of the 31 new coronavirus cases (84%) were imported and only five (16%) were locally acquired, according to the latest coronavirus national surveillance report that was released by the Health Ministry today.
As of June 16, a total of 985 COVID-19 cases and 25 deaths (case fatality rate: 2.5%) have been reported in the Republic of Cyprus.

Residents of Cyprus take note; "in the past two weeks" covers the period after airlines were again allowed to land at Larnaca, on Sunday 21st there will be the first arrival at Paphos airport!

A very good video from a New Zealand doctor all about Vitamin D. Nobody living in Cyprus should need to take supplements unless they are totally housebound.

More concerned about the lack of concern shown by other residents where I live as many have not adhered to the restriction measures and they are the ones going out and about frequenting places where they mix with all and sundry.

As a result my precautionary measures are in place before I even leave the apartment.

That is subjective

Cypriot people especially only sit in the shade and very rarely sit out in the sunshine
A lot of people only head out into the sun whilst wearing lots of sunscreen for skin safety.
What about Sri Lanken, Indian, Caribbean, African people or middle eastern people ...like the Muslim ladies who are covered from head to toe

Not all of us sit in the sun and not all of us sunbathe

I have to wear factor 50 every day of my life ..summer and winter ....because my skin has developed sun sensitivity ....and have to stay out of the sun...I do sit in the sunshine at the end of each day with my arms and legs exposed...but mostly I sit in the shade ...or in summer stay out of the sun completely until early evening time ....my gp recommended 3 years ago that I start to take vitamin D for my health and I have done

Dr Molly in Peyia recommended that all of her patients take vitamin D and vitamin C at the start of the pandemic

There is now excellent advice world wide that supports the taking of extra vitamin D

And why

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_fIMkigtnk4

For us we will continue taking this simple vitamin D supplement and keeping our vitamin D levels high

Poppytim yes we also buy from Healthspan ...who currently have a 50% off summer offer on

Great company, great products

Sorry to hear this Alexis.

When we are going to the shops ...we regularly see large groups of mostly expats all sat together with hardly any distancing at times.

We wish them well ...but it is worrying to see .....at the moment we are in excellent shape in Cyprus with no internal new infections ....but virus infections are flying in....and it only takes a few for the numbers to lift again sadly

Good distancing practice , wearing of masks in crowded places , keeping those hands cleaned has got to be maintained for now ....may we get back to normal ASAP
