Just listening to our local radio station regarding TUI and Jet2, both are delaying flights to Cyprus because of strict testing rules in Cyprus, Jet2 say they may start again on the 17th August and TUI say they may start again on the 23rd August. A spokesman for the travel companies said these dates are provisional and may be delayed further, recommend that potential passengers get in touch with their relevant agencies.

Either way reading between the lines the Cypriot government do not want an escalation of new cases, again they want tourism but not at the expense of the population, they cannot win either way.

Jet2 announced a few days ago that they are restarting flights to Larnaca from Monday 17th and Paphos from Tuesday 18th. It was reported in the papers as a definite.

If you look at the arrivals for both airports here, there are plenty of flights coming in now and most of them are full.

Hi Effsie, looks like the media have started the fake news again, you would not know what to believe anymore.

"Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has announced that it will resume its flights and holidays programme to Cyprus from 17th August, meaning UK holidaymakers can escape to the Cypriot sunshine for the first time since March."

And possibly risk having to quarantine for two weeks on their return to the UK ( Rules are currently being changed at short notice .. as from such as France etc. presently) ?
I wouldn't like to take bets on such a volatile chance !

My Daughter and family flew out to Turkey last Monday 10th and has just sent me a couple of photos, the place is virtually deserted, the locals are really going out of their way in gratitude.

The virus numbers are about 1125 a day but that is all of Turkey, she says that the resort is spotless and the staff take the temperature of anyone entering the resort/complex, she feels very safe and glad that she came.

Is it the media who are out to make mischief, lets hope Cyprus can recover and get the tourists back.
