In a quality piece of sting journalism, Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit exposed how a convicted criminal might obtain a European passport in Cyprus - for the right price. The programme states "The first stage for a criminal to receive a European Passport, is a meeting with the right property agents" Enter, Sold On Cyprus where Denise and Tony Kay are secretly filmed. "They are part of a specialized team of enablers," says the narrator. "You'll meet the team" says Tony Kay, "The lawyers, the accountants, the Ministers". Then the undercover journalists are introduced to Andreas Pittadjis of the George F Pittadjis Law Firm and EU passports in any name you require, are soon bragged about. Much of the media focus today is on the top of 'The Team' where Akel MP Christakis Giovanis and House president Demetris Syllouris appeared ready to help a criminal secure a Cypriot passport. But it's the involvement of Sold of Cyprus and Pittadjis of Paralimni that fascinated me the most! This was Al Jazeera’s second expose on Cyprus’ investment programme dubbed The Cyprus Papers. The politicians now cry entrapment and accuse Al Jazeera of having ulterior motives. Tony and Denise Kay say "Cypriot Law would have to be obeyed.." and Andreas Pittadjis is putting forward, that in all the meetings secretly filmed, he was simply trying to catch information to report to the authorities. This programme is a must-see and so is the commentary on Twitter and Facebook where Pittadjis' countrymen ridicule his posted statement. We had our apartment up for sale with that company! Cyprus is corrupt, as are many countries, money always speaks. One of the many reasons we voted Brexit. Feel sorry for the decent Cypriots who were the best people we got to know and love. |

Interesting, Brexit wont get rid of the corruption going on in the UK, with brand new inexperienced companies being awarded contracts for hundreds of millions of tax payers money to make PPE. https://bylinetimes.com/2020/09/14/gove ... -old-firm/ |

Uncle D I believe the UK were incredibly grateful to any company that diversified to produce PPE.They are now producing 80% of their PPE requirement in the UK so we no longer have to rely on cheap substandard rubbish. A great achievement I think!! |

A great achievement I think!! There were companies in the UK already experienced in making PPE during the lockdown who weren't even approached, let alone awarded any contracts. But all sorts of tin pot companies sprang up, usually friends of Tory MP's, remember that ferry company that didnt even have any boats let alone ships/ferries. Show us your evidence on them producing better PPE than the existing companies. They are the ones raking in the cash and you wont see a penny of it so why stick up for them? |

Better to make our own PPE in the uk Than rely on Chinese, Turkish PPE that was at times sub standard Glad to see that manufacturing is back in the uk and making jobs for uk people |
