Starting Thursday, travellers arriving from anywhere to Cyprus with a valid Covid-19 vaccination certificate issued by the island’s authorities will not have to undergo testing and quarantine, the transport ministry announced on Wednesday.

These passengers will not be exempted however from the health ministry’s random testing that is carried out at airports.

According to a statement, the cabinet on Wednesday decided that all passengers who can prove they have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and who have a valid certificate from the Republic of Cyprus upon arrival, irrespective of country of origin, will be exempt from tests and the obligation to self-isolate provided the required number of days between the last dose (depending on vaccine) and the travel date has elapsed.

More information concerning the required number of days will be uploaded on CyprusFlightpass

It is noted, the announcement said, that passengers with valid vaccine certificates will have to undergo testing if selected by health officials, as part of the health ministry’s random testing programme at Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Visitors must also adhere to the health and safety protocols in place at any given time.

Valid vaccine certificates do not exempt passengers from filling the online application on CyprusFlightpass

Not sure how you would go about getting a certificate from Cyprus

Let as many as possible be vaccinated soon here

But be aware that the vaccines take 3-4 weeks to become effective

Stay safe all...in all of this madness

My understanding of the story is that it applies to Cypriots and Cyprus residents who have been vaccinated here and there received a certificate of vaccination from Cyprus.

If that is right then it just seem to relate to people returning to Cyprus, rather than tourists.

“We have informed the British government that from 1 May we will facilitate the arrival of British nationals who have been vaccinated … so they can visit Cyprus without a negative test or needing to quarantine,” the deputy tourism minister, Savvas Perdios, said on Thursday.

The Independent

Cyprus has taken the lead in the European race to open up to British holidaymakers who have been vaccinated.
The island’s deputy tourism minister told the Cyprus News Agency that people from the UK who have had the vaccine will not need to undergo tests or quarantine this summer.

The Telegraph

Cyprus will allow British tourists who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 into the country without restrictions from May 1, its tourism minister said on Thursday.

We avoid crowds and groups. The Vaccine does not prevent anyone from catching the VIRUS. A Cardiologist and an assistant in the Cardiology center in Nicosia. Had the Inoculation both jabs in Jan this year. They have both now been infected with the COVID-19 Virus.

That is of course believable cameraman BUT are they seriously ill with Covid? That of course is what the vaccine is supposed to do ie stop serious illness and prevent hospital admission.

It seems the story above about UK tourists being able to travel with a UK vaccination passport is incorrect. Cyprus Mail now says:

"Only nationals of Cyprus and Israel and permanent residents in both countries who hold a valid vaccination certificate will be able to travel to Cyprus without any restrictions, authorities clarified on Thursday."

Only vaccinated Cypriots and Israelis can enter without restrictions, ministry clarifies

Only nationals of Cyprus and Israel and permanent residents in both countries who hold a valid vaccination certificate will be able to travel to Cyprus without any restrictions, authorities clarified on Thursday.

The transport ministry had announced on Wednesday evening that as per a cabinet decision, that from April 1, all passengers who were vaccinated against Covid-19 and held a valid certificate from the Republic of Cyprus, would not be subjected to self-isolation and mandatory testing upon arrival.

This raised confusion about who exactly could enter the country as the ministry’s original announcement spoke of all vaccinated people, which was acknowledged by the ministry.

A transport ministry spokesperson on Thursday clarified for the Cyprus Mail that the change concerned Cypriots, Israelis and permanent residents in Cyprus and Israel who have been vaccinated and hold valid vaccination certificates issued by these two countries.

Another twist

"Cyprus, which from May 1 will allow visitors from the UK with a certificate of vaccination to travel here without restrictions, is awaiting London’s decisions as regards outbound flights, Transport Minister Yianis Karousos said.

“We are in contact with the United Kingdom to see the details regarding the certificate it will be issuing. However, we are waiting for the country’s political decision as to where it will classify Cyprus and when Britons will be allowed to travel,” he told reporters."

Yes, I know. My comment was made in fun, hence the wink.

That said, where another comment has been posted while you are writing yours, you get a message telling you that other messages have been posted to give you the opportunity to check.

Have a great weekend.

Indeed. We both shared the same link. I didn't use the full text, just the part relevant to the comment I was responding to. In any event we are all on the same side and it is better that people see things twice rather than not at all.
