Lunch time news today, Cyprus remains on the Amber list, as well as other countries in the med, so there will be restrictions and this will not be good news for the Cypriot economy. In addition to this news, it looks as though Portugal might go back onto the Amber list, for those who do not understand the traffic light system allow me to explain. Green - No restrictions upon your return. Amber - Upon your return you must self isolate at home Red - Upon return you must stay in a Government approved hotel at your cost. There are more bits to, this for example compliant tests at various stages of your trip all paid for by you. Cyprus will be lucky if they see any UK tourists this year. |

I wouldn't recommend anyone risking their health coming here on holiday. We decided to treat ourselves to a weekend in a four star all inclusive, adult only hotel (where we have stayed many times) The covid measures they took were very dissapointing, although there were signs up to wear masks, it wasn't enforced. Crowds of drunk guests stood around the bar where it clearly displayed a poster saying masks must be worn, not one person wore a mask and the 2 bar staff had their masks under their chin. I reported this to the receptionist who shrugged and said what can we do we are not the police, I said that for a start the staff should be wearing a mask to set an example and refuse to serve drinks unless the customer is wearing a mask. A sign said to wear a mask in the lift where my husband politely asked a guest to put his mask on, the man replied that he didn't have one, we got out of the lift. The dining room was the worst experience, the young girl on the door asked people to comply but was ignored, she was upset about this and said she was going to work in another hotel. There were gloves provided but these unmasked inconsiderate people didn't wear them and picked food up from the buffet with their fingers. We have had both vaccinations but we are still very careful and keep to the regulations. This ruined our break as I am quite paranoid about passing the virus on. We won't be back to this hotel. I took photographs and am considering sending them to a newspaper |

So sad to read how disappointingly this hotel has behaved When we are all trying to get our Cyprus economy up and running again safely And Resteraunts and small shops are bending over backwards to fit in the health criteria for people visiting their premises Picking up food from a buffet with your hands even without covid is a no no...who wants dirty hands all over their food ...yak! A recipe for food poisoning! Out of interest have you thought of contacting and complaining to the top management of the hotel? As Staff have very little authority...as the young girl on the restaurant showed Which hotel by the way? |

It was the Cyprus Maris, Leonardo Plaza The manager wasn't wearing a mask and the reception staff were afraid to say anything, I pointed out that if one person caught covid the hotel would be closed down. We stayed at the Athena Royal Beach just before Christmas, what a different story, everyone wore masks, table service for drinks, very strict protocol. I filled in the questionnaire and pointed out the downfalls of our stay,.... |

Good to hear though that the Athena were following all procedures. We stayed there for a few days before returning to the UK 4 years ago. Excellent hotel in my opinion and The food was really good. |
