Hi Michele and welcome to the forum.
Have to disagree with you Pete regarding a bed, brought one over from the UK and bought one here. Needless to say the one I bought here I hate - it has the slated bottom which lets the cold come through, plus the mattress gets dirty underdeath with the dust. This wasn't a cheap bed we bought CYP800 with two matching side tables, whereas our UK bed has the four drawers which is great for storage as there is never enough storage in the houses here and you don't feel the cold coming up from the floor.
Fridges and freezers - well my large chest freezer is still working (touch wood) after nearly four years here and it was two year old when I did bring it over. Fridges - I have just sold the two I brought over and they were still working fine but they weren't big enough therefore bought a new one a Miele which is enormous but great for the drinks, all the fresh veg I now have all the time in the fridge (always used to buy frozen in the UK) as you really do need a large fridge.
Washing machines are still pretty pricey here (for a decent one)and I would personally recommend a dryer as I hate the way the towels go like sandpaper after a few washes here, plus it can take a few days to dry clothes if there is a wet spell. Even in the summer I use my dryer for the towels - just giving them half an hour and they are still damp but half an hour outside and they are dry.
You can get just about everything here now but be prepared to go from shop to shop until you find what you want and I still think the choice is limited. Good example is I went looking for a small round side table for the living room - went into just about every shop in the Mesogi Road and only found one that was CYP95 and had a few chips in it therefore did not buy it so I will just do without.
Hope this helps a bit.
