Old Fred’s Funeral Fred was dead No one was there Alone in his bed Nobody to care He was an old drinker Always in the boozer Not much of a thinker In fact he was just a loser His passing was expected Long overdue some said His friends were dejected But old Fred was dead The funeral was arranged Everyone dressed in black Cloth caps in their hands But he wasn’t coming back It started from the Bar Just a modest affair Just the one extra car Even the landlord was there When it was ended To the pub for the wake Many elbows were bended All for old Fred’s sake A good time was had by heck Fred had prepaid the cost Gave the landlord a cheque To cover the bill for his loss “Just fill in the amount I owe Don’t worry I’ll see you right” The bank gave the landlord a blow Old Fred had flown him a kite! |
