Does anyone know what the price is to fill a
gas tank for central heating and how long it will last ?
I am trying to work out the cheapest way to heat a house ...

From what I know it costs approx €205 per fill & last around 3-4 weeks depending on usage

Verity will be able to tell you, they have C/H with a gas tank

I did read your question on the forum and I thought that I would leave it till tonight to answer you.

It all depends on how you use your c/heating, and it also depends on what your usage on the hot water is.

One thing I can tell you, is that on your first fill, it would cost you about 120cyp.

I myself use mine for an hour in the mornings and then 2/3hrs at night. This all depends on the weather and temp. of coarse and my 400ltrs lasts me about 6/7 weeks. I normally fill mine twice in the winter months and I still have some left over to last me for my cooker until the following winter.

Please don’t try and go by this, as I have a very small bungalow to heat. My hot water is also on demand from a combi boiler. I do not heat the hot water tank on the roof as this to me is a waste of money, the hot water tank will be cold the following morning with the outside temp.

Whoever you get to install your c/heating system, make sure that they give you the hot water on demand from a combi boiler. It’s a little more work involved but, it will pay you in the long run.

Great first post, I wasn't sure but by the sounds of it, I was way off in my estimate

I'm guessing that having a combi heater for your water, it will cost a lot more than just having C/H installed yeah

hello neil and pete,
the legal requirement is supposed to be 3 metres away from any buildings. like you said, "this is cyprus".
to be honest, if someone was wanting c/heating installed and they did'nt have the room in their garden for a gas tank within the 3 metres, then ask yourself, where would i put the tank?
the tank would then have to go where there is any available space, ie, anywhere within reason. can you imagine cutting up accross someones driveway to install the pipework needed for the supply pipe, (no chance) the customer would then tell you to put the tank in the easiest of places.
yes i do have a combi boiler fitted, as this gives me ALL the hot water (on demand)that i need over the winter period. when the cold period is over, i then switch back over onto my solar panels for my hot water in the hot period.
i'm a central heating engineer to trade, and i'm just getting the best of both worlds, but hey, it's easy for me, my time is free for my own work, but sorry not for anyone else though, as i do have a living to make.

on a new build would they refuse to give me a completion certificate

The 2 houses we have lived in here with CH - both gas tanks are ON the side of the building!!! I never knew about that rule - but then we rent...

Ronnie... I going to have MY WIFE & KIDS move in with you!!!

I would SAVE £££'s on my gas bill's...

hello neil,
the only thing that i know about in the refusal of title deeds are, if you dont have a safety device fitted, (electronic automatic cut off valve) . i have never heard of anyone being refused of deeds for the gas cylinder being too close to the building.

Just replying out of courtesy as my name was mentioned. I really don't have anything to add as Ronnie has said it all, except I wish we had a combi boiler for the hot water as it is a waste of electricity heating the tank on the roof. We rarely use it all either.

Hope your houses are going to be insulated, Neil. The CH is fine in our stone built part of the house, but the bedroom gets icy as it has three exposed walls, plus an exposed ceiling and floor. Brrr. Great in the summer though.
