Post subject:  Heating Oil

When we moved to our present house last winter, we were very grateful for the central heating. We paid 1.16 euro per litre for oil but the man who delivered it assured us that it would be cheaper in the summer. We watched the price fall to 99.5 but what will it drop to?
Can anybody with experience of this give us any idea? will it go down as the temperature goes up or will it hold at this price until the temp goes down? advice please. Thanks

In my experience the price of heating oil is linked to the price of fuel generally. I can accept that when prices are static, heating oil may be cheaper in the summer when there is less demand, but given the volatility of fuel prices I never buy oil until at least October.

Not saying that I am right, but it normally seems to work for me.

I long for the days (not that long ago) when it was around 80 cents a litre!

If the EU harmonisation of fuel prices take effect then you will be paying the same as the Germans are imposing on their own people so the harmonised price will rise. Also the majority is imposed taxation (theft) so why not try some agricultural diesel.

No, because it is a criminal offence.

Also, to state the obvious, taxation is not theft, it is part of how the state provides the services that it is obliged to.

Finally, harmonisation does not mean that we just charge what the Germans do, plus as you say yourself, it is very much an "if".
