Parts of Cyprus will be mapped with 3D imaging in the coming days, multinational tech company ‘Here’ announced on Tuesday.

The company said the goal is to create detailed digital maps of the roads on the island for them to be integrated into autonomous vehicles and other advanced services, enhancing road safety, contributing to the reduction of traffic congestion and enabling people to navigate urban areas.

“Furthermore, the vehicles of Here will not only capture three-dimensional and street images but also record points of interest such as shops, gas stations and restaurants,” a statement said.

The company added that the images recorded will then be processed using advanced software and algorithms to detect and blur faces and licence plates, ensuring they can be safely published in respect to privacy laws.

This Island is currently already being mapped thoroughly by many different sources including the google drive etc that a further survey is purely designed to bring them together. Follow the money back and see where the funding comes from that tells you the motif.
