BLIMEY IT’S COLD!

We thought the worst of winter was over, the weather had turned warmer and the evenings were gradually getting lighter, lunch outside, drinks on the patio by the pool would soon be the norm. This is what we came to Cyprus for isn’t it- the warm climate. Just think about all those people in the UK in the freezing cold rain and fog. Their central heating is probably going flat out trying to keep the house warm.
We have the last laugh over here don’t we.

Then last Saturday morning, rain and freezing cold wind greeted us when we threw back the curtains. I took the dog out, he didn’t want to go, but we persevered and after the necessary ablutions had been completed we headed back home.
I dried the dog’s feet and generally mopped him down, then we had a hot cup of coffee and Marmite on toast by the fire that soon warmed us up.
“Did you see anybody?” said my wife.
“Only Noah’s Ark sailing down the road” I said with a chuckle.

There is a knock on the door I got up and answered it.
“Who was it?” My wife asked.
“There’s a man with a brass monkey outside, he wants to know if I’ve got a welder!” I say jokingly.
“Have you got one he can borrow?” She asks.
Some fell on stony ground.
“No it’s the postman” I said “He’s got a recorded delivery and he wants a signature from you.”
Coming back in carrying a package and looking puzzled she said “I wonder what this is”
“Who is it from?”
“Samantha” she says.
That’s her daughter who has a habit of buying soppy things on a whim and posting them over.
“Well get it open then and we’ll find out what it is won’t we”
Cutting through the layers of sellotape, brown paper and plastic bags the contents were revealed. Six bikinis and a note “Saw these cheap in the sales and thought of you over there in the sunshine.”
We both laughed as the rain hammered down and the thunder and lightning flashed and roared.
“Well, try them on then” says I.
“On yer bike, and turn the fire up a notch, these can wait until the sun shines. Cor blimey its cold put the kettle on again let’s have another cup of coffee.”
