Just read an article in Cyprus mail that due to the automated traffic cameras at some junctions the number of violations has dropped substantially, i think this is very good news as the days of the 'wild east' on the public highways should come to an end . During the past week i have had to travel through the new ' smart city ' centre of Paphos , the total disregard for traffic regs the new signage and streaming of traffic renders all the improvements to zero and just causes chaos. Whilst i am not best pleased with the alterations they would actually work quite successfully if only people would follow the highway code !
As a side issue i was in Tallinn, Estonia recently and it was very pleasant to drive at the speed limit and not be driven off the road by impatient little tinkers !
The Estonian police have a zero tolerence for drinking and driving and speeding , if you lose your licence then you have to retake your driving test to get it back , hence the excellent standard of driving there , clearly not a good place for uk expats
