Anyone else watching "The Piano" Sunday evenings, Ch4?
We loved the first series and this new series, starting last night, was equally good. Stunning performances by amateurs, on a piano located in a railway station, in last night's case, Manchester. One piece last night was by a man in his 70s/80s, who quite remarkably, had dementia. So moving to see the love between him and his wife, who cares for him. And then a boy child genius of 7 (or was it 9?) who played an amazing classical piece.
If you haven't watched the programme before, I would urge you to watch it without any preconceptions. There is modern music as well as classical. And people of all ages and from all backgrounds showcase their talents, by invitation. Claudia Winkelman is a great host. There are just 5 episodes. One of the few programmes we diarise to watch. You may be able to watch last night's episode on catch-up.
