With the current water situation i suggest there would be a much better spend of public funds to introduce proper desalination plants and long term strategies to water provision than to wasting the public funds on pretty, useless and pocket lining projects that benefit only the same pockets each time.

For example:

The new Polis road. Not necessary, never has been.
Road and infrastructure changes in Paphos, villages and other cities
Communications infrastructure
Wifi and other electronic surveillance systems in public places
Electric chargers for cars

These are amongst many but would pay for water provision.

Long term to give incentives for land owners and farmers to collect water, use ground absorption, and correct long term planting of fallow ground to not only save water, use it better and reduce the amount of fires.

Seems the policies in place revolve around creating a panic, finding a solution once the pockets are full, filling the pockets then repeat as desired.

We are lucky ! Being at the bottom of hill we only have pressure reduction, from 6bar down to 2 or 2.5 bar , but those up the hill i suspect are not so lucky , if the are on the same circuit as us then 2.5 bar will only push the water 25m uphill which is not very far

Daily water cuts in my area - now in 7th week, usually from 6pm weekdays and much earlier at weekends.
Chloraka Community Council has two tanks, one for residents and one for tourists.
Allocated a certain amount each day, so CCC regulates by reducing pressure and/or cuts.

Only inconvenience is using the washing machine which runs off mains supply.
Also sometimes cut off during the weekdays when working on water system eg pipe repairs.

Even though neighbours are affected, some still perform the daily ritual cleansing of outside areas - before 6am!

I guess old habits die hard with traditions but we all need to be more cautious with water usage . I agree with Tanny that funds could have been used in a more practical direction . Foe example , the Paphos town centre , millions have been spent making it look a modern 15 minute style city , which is styish and efficent!
Sadly what i see is 2 years of unrealistic upheaval for shop owners , lots of pretty lines painted on the roads with no right turn signs , no entry, no exit etc. Only to watch most people completely ignoring them and as always doing what the hell they want , where ever they want and many of the road lines and parking space numbers painted with cheap pelelac paint instead of road marking paint , so they rub out in 5 minutes ! Also in my opinion money has been wasted on psuedo artistist displays !
So in effect we had a modern smart city to attract tourism but its dry (water shortage).
Actually because of how it is used i find the town difficult to use , so most of the time i use shops out of town and have given up on .
I am sure all that money could have financed a desalination plant ! I expect with a water shortage the sales of bottled water has increased significantly thus putting extra load on the recyling system !

I had reason to attend the main PO in Anavargos today and what a wonderful job they had done of washing it all down.

An excellent example to the plebs.
