Just read in Philenews that ministers are pondering with the building some sort of racing facility somewhere between Limmasol and Larnaca to help combat the problem of road racing on the public highway .I think it is a excellent idea , with so many high powered vehicles on the road , 300bhp+ when on the public highway you cant really use anymore than 100 bhp safely. How much power do you need to go at 100kmph/ 63mph , a well tuned moped can do that ! As a teenager I took my 1966 Morris Oxford to brands hatch on a ' track day ' it was great ! No speed limit, one way, no pedestrians , I know hardly a sports car but it was a good day. i think if the facility could have a drag strip, standing 1/4 mile and skid pan for doughnuts and maybe a race track suitable for drifting . I don't understand the modern trend towards burning out your tyres but it's what the youngsters like to do , so give them a purpose built facility to do it . I can well understand the frustration of having so much power under the bonnet and only being able to use a small fraction of it , but in my opinion why buy a vehicle totally unsuited to the road infrastructure, but hell im a old bugger ! I see it would be great if also there was a cafe and coffee shop , a real racers hangout ! If it is a success then making one in the Paphos area too , I see a great need for somewhere for the petrol heads to let off steam
