I personally don't know what's worse, Cypriot drivers, Tourists or Ex pats who drive like Cypriots

You expect the Cypriots to drive erratic but when you see a red-plate doing the same, its hard to figure out if its a tourist or a Cypriot in a hire car :?

And as for Ex-pats, you'd think they'd drive the way they do in the UK but nope, they take on the Cypriot persona, forgetting they have indicators & lose any consideration they have for other drivers on the road :x

I like to think of driving in Cyprus as if I'm on a F1 track with dodgems thrown in

I posted about the perils of following red plate cars once (not on this site, obviously) and was jumped on by people who hire cars out here when on holiday who think they drive well. But they seriously do my head in when they meander around the bendy roads, stop dead, then turn right straight across you when you have just decided you must overtake them. Or they are so busy looking at the lovely views that they don't know you are there. Why don't they just pull over?

If you think this doesn't happen, try driving between Kourium and Episkopi Forces Base on a regular basis, especially in the summer. I am sure they drive sensibly when they are not in holiday mode.

I don't mean the people who don't know the roads and don't know where they are going. That is different and excusable.

I think I am less patient when I am in work mode as I have so much to cram in to six hours. Maybe I wouldn't care if I had all the time in the world too.

Climbing off soapbox to imbibe a bacardi now.

Having lived in Kolossi while stationed here, I know exactly what you mean about tourist around Kourium and Episkopi Forces Base, having travelled that road many times.... personally I think they shouldn't be allowed there but then again, that was then but now I'm a civvie myself, I wouldn't be allowed if that was the case
