Just thought I would ask this question, or is it just in my neighbourhood?

So far in the past few days we have managed to pick up a few bargains - absolutely free with locals throwing out what they presume rubbish.

This morning managed to get a lovely indoor plant - six feet high, slightly yellow at the edges but just needing a bit of tender loving care. Saw them in the local flower shop at CYP25.

Last week a basket of plants - overgrown, but cut back and given a bit of food - brilliant.

An old pottery pot, a brand new dog bed to name but a few of the items. I would never dream of going through anyone's rubbish but when they are just thrown out and obviously in reasonable or good condition. Anyone looking for anything in particular and I will keep my eyes open?

Has anyone else noticed this?

Nah, I'm alright mate, still have my trusty jeep Titus (big, clumsy and prone to screwing up at inopportune moments! :D )

Had just got used to being a 2 car family, even though we didn't really need the second one - now we're back to just the 1 at least my carbon footprint will be a bit smaller!

Many years ago when Jo & I were renovating properties in the UK, I would always dig deep into skips to see what I could find!!!

Mind you most props are built this way in Cyprus... :(

I've got 3 white plastic garden chairs, 3 wooden garden chairs and a plastic garden table  Hoping to have lots of visitors when I've retired.

Skip rats is what these people are called, if you get in the skips at the back of Greggs The Bakers you can even find two day old pasties !
I know they don't have Gregg The Bakers where you lot are but check out the back of the baker's shop opposite Alex The Great or the back of Tea for Two you'll find allsorts, man, enough to keep you going for ages.

Neither would I go into a skip anywhere - rats come to mind or go down someone's rubbish.

No everything that I (well rather Steve because I tell him where I see them) has been put out in the street for the rubbish men - apart from the pot and basket of indoor plants that Steve found when he was putting his garden rubbish (leaves etc) into the hole in the ground opposite us - giving it lots of compost before they eventually fill it in with dirt.

It just appears that this is a throw away society, hence traders are surprised if you take something back that doesn't work after a short period of time. :D
