I opened my wardrobe last night only to discover two pairs of green suede shoes. Which was very odd, as I used to have one brown pair and one black pair. Methinks the cold and damp is playing havoc with my stuff.

If anyone sees a cupboard heater anywhere please can they let me know? Thanks.

Verity - you made me laugh at this one, although I know it isn't funny as I remember the first winter in our house when I had to throw so much out, especially the sea grass things I had for the bathroom and the washing of everything that was natural because they were covered in mildew. Thank goodness we don't have that anymore as the house has dried out completely now.

The lower part of our house is stone built and we don't have any problems, but our bedroom is on stilts above the car port. So it has three walls, the ceiling and the floor exposed to the elements. The wardrobe is on one of the exposed walls, and everything gets really cold in there - hence the need for cupboard heaters.

I could just leave the doors open, but that looks untidy and makes my head feel messy. (Don't ask - it just does!).

Sorry to hear about your fall, Trish. Hope your ankle settles soon.

Hi Verity. I've just found some cupboard heaters, or rather, heaters which can be used in a cupboard :?

http://www.dealec.co.uk/acatalog/Deal_E ... s_181.html

Scroll down the page. When Ann goes over to England in February, she's going to bring one back (along with a hundredweight of other stuff). I researched these for the landing cupboard I'm about to convert into an airing cupboard...and they seem ideal. Just 60W and £10. Of course, I'm going to have to get an electrician to put a point in the cupboard, and I'm going to have to busy myself making slatted shelves, but don't you think they're ideal? Lloyd

Just went and ordered mine...thought I'd better get in quick  Never used this company before, but ordering could not have been easier or more pleasurable. Shipping within the UK was £7.90. They appear to deliver worldwide, but I guess it would be a little pricey to Cyprus.

Verity, we had a disaster like this a year or two back. But most stuff was recoverable. From it we learned to:

1 Install a powerful extraction fan in the bathrooms, so that most of the moisture from showers is shifted outside. (Our bathroom door is very near to our wardrobe).

2 Leave cupboard doors open in all unused bedrooms...and then leave those bedroom doors open, so air can circulate.

3 Not pack clothes too tightly together in unused wardrobes and cupboards.

Hope this helps. Lloyd

Thanks Lloyd. I am only having a quick dip into PP so will look at the link in detail later.

Have a great Sunday.
