My OH is an amazing singer and guitarist and is hoping to do some gigs when he comes out. Can anyone suggest good venues for him to approach? He sings allsorts from Neil Diamond to Bon Jovi to Snow Patrol and Greenday. Obviously i'm bias but he is very talented and his voice/style suits all age groups - Bubble will vouch (sp) for him!! Any suggestions would be great! Thanks Lolly x |

Lolly, He could always try the Rose Pub in Kato Paphos, just along from MacDonalds in the Harbour Jay owns the pub & as live music several times a week, he sometimes does talent nights too, so that new bands & singers can show case their talent in his pub |

Hi Lolly When we stayed in Corallia Bay last year the irish bar (can't remember the name) had singers/groups on most nights. Julie x |

Is that the Irish bar on TOTKs Julie if so, its called O'Neill's & yes they do have live music too In fact most pubs, clubs & hotels have live music but its normally the same people/bands going around each venue during the week, so plenty of room for more talented people to make it here |

Hi, I read today in the Paphos post about some kind of competition for professional and novice musicians and singers in this area! It offers a regular monthly gig for those who participate to get their music heard, and a competition final next year! It may help you and info is all on the paphos post website apparantly! Good luck! Louise |

Hi Lolly, I play Bass Guitar and intend to bring my gear when we do eventualy move over sometime this year. I've made one or two contacts already so I'm hoping to get in on the band scene when we come over, O'Neils is a good venue with a good atmosphere. My main aim is to get into a band playing live music, I think that there is potential for a scene to develope more; I know that there was a Blues Festival over in Pi ssouri last year with plans for another this year. |

I'm down to a Delta Blues band at the moment as well as a Jam night with Russ Dennet (ex Human League), a couple of years back I was in four bands out most nights of the week, one of the bands was from Barnsley and had old friends from a previous band of Saxon's Biff and Paul Quinn. Quinny used to get up with us when he was back in the neighbourhood. We'll have to talk about our likes and dislikes in music; there are so many different genres these days. |

Hi John, I think your right about there being room for development on the live music scene! WOW! thats quite a CV! Gavin is interested in all genres and has a voice to suit all of them! He also plays lead and rythm guitar and keyboard altho his strengths are in singing and lead, have a look at his band wesite, that will give you a better idea! (i'll pm it to you) He shared a stage with Gary Moore last year and he commended his talents hightly! It was a the Clic annual charity ball and they have been invited back this year! they are playing this friday! I cant wait! i was in Cyprus last year so i missed it Anyways, enough of my ramblings, he will be signing up to this site soon so you to should talk! Lolly x |

One place not to go is House of Blues - they don't pay their musicians. Still waiting since September for two months work for hubby Steve. Get the occasional text from Mario stating he is going to pay but when? |

Called in once, for all the gear they've got you would think they'd get a good sound, kid from behind the bar kept running up and twiddling knobs on the mixing desk (or pretending too ) didn't make any difference still couldn't tell what the guy was singing. |
