Hi guys, I'v metioned in a previous thread Gavin is a very talented musician. He is now seriously considering getting a band together on the island for gigs in pubs, restaurants and even weddings! So my question to you lovely people is are you or do you know anyone that may be interested in joining him? If you play an instrument, drums, guitar, keyboard or if you sing let us know!! You never know PP could have it's very own band before long! Love Lolly |

Hi Lolly, Steve is a drummer but I am not too sure whether he wants to get involved with a band again after the fiasco with the House of Blues. Also there are not that many pubs that are big enough to hold a band so unless Gavin is lucky enough to get into the hotels the group will have limited work. On saying that though I will tell him about it and if he is interested will pm you. |

Lollypop I know a gentleman who does discos for the Hotels and apparently they are screaming out for bands!!! Hotels will be a great venture and i am sure he could get your foot in the door all you need is a group now. And i am very sure Gavin would succeed as he is very talented, just wait til they all hear him sing Best of luck buddies Bubbles |

Its not what you know but who you know here. I honestly wish you the best of luck, hope my post didn't sound too dramatic or down, it wasn't meant to be just to give you bit of insight into entertainment here. |

Hi Lollipop I would be interested, if we ever get there ( waiting for a new buyer for UK house ). I'm 44, been a Rock+Roll singer for 20 plus years ( previously Rockabilly ). Been playing private functions for the past 12 years. I've played, big gigs ( Anfield QVC Christmas party ) small gigs, and many medium gigs. 50's, 60's, 70's, Elvis, Jerry lee, Neil Diamond, Mud, shawaddywaddy, some country, Garth Brooks, Toby Keith...etc...some modern...not much I'll look you up when I get there or drop me a pm. What I do think is that there is an increasing potential to get a live band scene going in Cyprus with the ever increasing ex pat population as well as some decent local musos. Once word gets round people start phoning you. Isn't there a facility to post pickies on this forum? Regards John |

Here's a shot of me jamming with 'Paul Quinn' from the rock band 'Saxon', didn't realise who he was until somebody told me after the set finished. |

I agree John, there must be potential with so many ex-pats. Where I come from in SE England there is a huge live music scene, from amateur to pro. Got to be better than the local live music |

There is potential here, but when you have so many that "mime" their way through things and people think they are great, if they only knew the wool being pulled over their eyes. |

We've the same problem in the UK, what happened there was the music licencing laws limiting to just two people performing without an entertainment licence, the law has now changed and once again people are demanding real live music. |

Thanks guys! Thats all really positive stuff! On all our visits to Cyprus we have never seen and actual band play! it seems to be all backing track singers or karaoke! Don't know about you lot but if i'm going to watch a live gig i want to see real instruments being played! I love to see talent (no comments please!) We'll keep plugging away and see what happens! Lolly x |

Slightly off topic bought This Bass guitar £107 in Limassol in 1966, sold it in 2003 for £3,500, the son still runs the shop. |
