Oh dear, somebody is not happy.

I don't actually think that putting up the link to my original post will show their members that anything derogatory has been said. IMHO members have merely expressed their personal experiences and opinions based on these. I don't really understand the references to "copying" either, nor "this old tactic".

As I have said before, no personal criticism was ever intended just merely observation on experiences.

I had read on there that complaints had been made by members regarding unsolicited PM's, but the number menioned was 10 or 11 at the time. I never received one myself, and how many members do they have? More than that for sure. My guess is that perhaps some members received information about PP from people they had at some time given their email addresses to, but not necessarily trying to tempt them away. More liekly an innocent email or PM suggesting they have a look. Don't we all check out the other forums as well, without feeling guilty? Who knows. I didn't take this seriously anyway. We all have minds of our own, don't we?

If we are all Pirates, then so be it.

Hi Tina, I should have copied it too, knowing how posts disappear on that site on the whim of admin, maybe it was just a kite flying excercise on their behalf or maybe "Admin" realised he would further alienate some of his own members...............

It's disappointing to see, but was quickly removed so probably a timely change of heart.

The last thing we want is to get involved with slanging matches with any other forums - as people have said, we have an open forum that anyone is welcome to join - if they like it, then they'll stay, and there's nothing to stop anyone being a member of as many different forums as they like.

:)

But it is a classic example of what can happen when one individual controls a web site, as has been said before, this site is moderated by several people and is better for it.

We belong to other Forums too. One being the Scottish Forum where you 'meet' people from all over the world with a link to Scotland. Not homesick at all - but I do love communicating with people who also love Scotland - and some who I knew when I was growing up in Strathpeffer and are now at the other side of the world. These Forums broaden the mind and one does meet some lovely people, especially on PP when we can meet up occcasionally.
We love 'The Banter' but stay clear of the 'problems'.

I can post a synopsis of the "Rant" but I think that Tina has it copied and pasted.

Hi Sammia

Yes we took our daughter on last summer, she really enjoyed it. It makes for a fun afternoon out and you can walk the plank

My daughter also went to a birthday party there, we will probably do it again this summer :D

Hi Cheryl

What age range would you say it was for...Mia's 9th birthday is in June on the same day as mine lol....might be worth looking into. Where does the boat take you? Is it a full day or half day trip?? :D

I went on the Jollie Roger some years ago & then I realised why I joined the RAF instead of the Navy, as I was sea sick with-in 10 mins of setting sail.. :puke

It leaves the Harbour & head out towards Coral Bay beach & anchors there while you have a swim & food, then some back, not sure if that the only trip it does but that was 10 times to long for me :(

We took our lads on a Pirate Ship when we were in Turkey several years ago. Great fun for the kids. Especially when the Dads were made to walk the plank.

I love dressing up. Maybe we should make one of our beach parties a Pafos Pirates Party and have rum swigging contests and see who can make the best costume.

Or maybe I am getting a bit too carried away. It comes from being shut away for so long, you know.

I'm dreaming about it, Neil. Just dreaming about it.

Tee total at the moment, so I have to look to the future.

I had a shocking sea-sickness episode years back, on a fishing trip with a group of mates off Whitby...we had a bit of a "heavy" night the night before :cheers so I wasn't feeling brilliant to start with and I revisited my bacon butty breakfast within 20 minutes of leaving shore.... :puke

We were on a tiny boat with fish guts and diesel fumes everywhere and once I had started I just couldn't stop - the lads of course were prefectly sympathetic, rubbing dead fish in my face etc...

Stayed out at sea for 12 hours and on more than one occasion I seriously considered jumping overboard and swimming for shore! Felt fine as soon as we eventaully reached dry land, but my stomach muscles the next day felt like I had done 10 rounds with Tyson! :rocky

Never again!

I know what you mean mate, when I was down the Falklands, I got taken on to HMS Norfolk, a Navy Frigate which was in dock & tethered.

The sea was as calm as a mill pond & I still felt sick & that ship was at least 50,000 tonnes displacement & wasn't even moving
