Post subject: | The Euro & the Changeover |
Hi folks I'm wondering how everyone has coped with the recent introduction of the Euro and the change from Cy£. We've not been over since October last year (sounds like a long time ago - and it was) and when we were last there it was the 'old' money. We'll be there next week Has anyone noticed any marked increase in prices generally ?? Also what's best to bring - Euro or Sterling?? kind regards Graham (adopted) |

Owning a shop I have started to see a lot of euro's & it's no real difference to the cyp£ as long as you remeber to charge people in the correct currency But saying that, I've also seen an increase in C/C usage too, as some people aren't too sure yet & probably want to get their heads around the changes before dipping their toes in As for which currency to bring, I suppose it depends on what the best exchange rate is you'll get, just check it out a week or so before you come & then decide where you'll get the best for your money |

Thanks for that Pete but too many numbers, do most think it is best to round up the numbers? Remember I gave you a clue I did say blonde. Jan |

I'm just about starting to get used to it now - can calculate most prices in my head, although I tend to use 0.6 for simplicity - at least I'm erring on the side of caution! |

Jan I wouldn't as when you start to round up or down, you can lose quite a bit in translation If you have a convertor on your mobile, I have a Samsung D900 & have entered it on there, so I have it with me all the time, saves trying to work it out in your head or on paper |

Slightly O/T but does anyone know ... If someone has a CYP20 note and is in the UK Where can they get it changed? Apparently, some of the banks are a bit funny now as it's no longer 'legal tender' |

Sorry JB you will probably have to wait untill you come back to Cyprus to change your cyp£. Jan - I am having problems as well, the way I think is cyp£0.58 1 euro, cyp£10. = .5.80 euro - cyp100 e = cyp£58.00 etc. etc. Molly |

It's not me, it was just someone else on a 'holiday forum'. I offered to post them a cheque for 20 sterling and was accused of being a greedy b***r |

Thanks Molly seems it takes some time to get your head around the euro. I am sure to get confused but will use a convertor initially to help. Jan |
