The road tax in jan will be due buy the end of the month or a fine will be on top of the tax.
If you mot is close to expireing its best to get it done in dec as will be crazy in jan as you need mot to do road tax.
There will be a increase on all road taxes 10e for cars up to 1.6 , 20e for cars upto 2.0 , 30e for cars above inc twin cabs.
I think this is fair due to inflation .
If you have a car on English plates you should register this year to keep on old system as new system will make road tax more on most cars. All cars registered this year will stay on old system.
ps if you dont stop a police cheak you should have a bullet proof jacket

Hi Simon,

Could you please tell me where I go to pay for tax on the car, what paperwork I'll need and how much it's likely to be (Mitsubishi Lancer 1600)
Also - does something come through the post about the tax, or do I just turn up to pay it?

As you can tell, I haven't done this before out here :-)

Thank you

If it's the annual Road Tax you mean, you can do it on line here

I don;t know where the information came from that you have to pay your car tax by 31 December or face a fine because I have spoken to the Transport Dept in Nicosia and they said it can be paid in January.

Who said it had to be paid by 31 December?

Simon said in the first post
“The road tax in jan will be due buy the end of the month or a fine will be on top of the tax.”

And in another post
“either way you have to wait till 1st of Jan”
