hi all! we need to open a cyprus bank account soonest! could you please recommend the best and other than a passport do i need anything else? thank you

As far as I'm aware you cannot open a Cyprus bank a/c at the moment. Maybe the Govt. have changed the rules recently but during the banking crisis you couldn't open one. |

Pretty sure zorba is correct in his reply, you will also need proof of address ie. rental contract plus utility bill etc. |

For the time being you will have to keep your cash under the mattress like YiaYia ( Grandma). Probably safer there! |

Hi Mark yes you can open a bank account here in Cyprus.......we have just opened a bank account with Hellenic Bank it took @ 2 weeks to open because it had to go off to head office to be cleared instead of the norm inbank opening.and also we opened just as Nicosia went on their annual hols lol we have opened both a sterling account and a euro account for the transfer of monies from our uk accounts and you can also open On Line Banking account to go with your debit/savings accounts we just took into the Hellenic Bank proof of address, our passports, a utility bill, and proof of income.they did the rest hope this helps maggie |
