I know it seems like a long way away, but due to family commitments I'm unable to move now (Or I would!)
We were originally looking at Ayia Napa, but Paphos has a few important advantages in that it's open all year round, and is served by Luton Airport in the UK which makes trips home to family very much quicker and cheaper than Larnaca would.
We're a married couple aged 51 and 47, both with enough income to be able to retire in reasonable comfort to Cyprus with our two small Dogs, and wanted to be within walking distance of the local beaches, nightlife, decent shops etc.
Would any of you be able to suggest some nice places?
it is a traditional Cypriot town and there are always a few tavernas and coffee shops who are open! Although we do own an apartment over in Kato Paphos we have rented a bigger place over in Polis, although I would say you do not have the choice of properties you have in other areas. It is quieter over here, a slower pace of life, very rural and another major plus for us, much more dog friendly...we have no hassle with our dog at all, walking her on the beach and taking her into restaurants (admitably the outside dining areas). Paphos is a 40 minute drive and we just make sure we have a list of things to do when we pop over..every couple of weeks..We have a large-ish Paps, loads of choice for eating out and to be honest everything we need..the small cottage hospital is very good but for serious ailments they will send you to Paphos. There is a lively little expat community if you want that kind of thing but nothing like you will find in some other areas, in the main this is still very much Cyprus.
