I think proof of income might be a good idea.

Print this form , fill it in and take it with you.

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... vidual.pdf

You need to buy a stamp to go on it , 80€

One form and stamp required for each individual .

I had to register for Cypriot tax to pay my IPT.

I don't pay income tax in Cyprus and my IPT was zero.

I took a photo copy of my Passport and filled in the form as a New Registrant.
I didn't pay anything.

why is the stamp a requirement?

what is it for and what does it do or is just a means of the dept making more cash

Apparently there is a poster sign in the tax office saying you should use 1.22 for 2014 / 2015. I think this might be a bit out but have a look when you are in or just ask them when you are completing your paperwork

They don't publish the conversion rate each year, or write to tax payers. They put a notice on the board as you turn into the cash office waiting area. It usually shows the rates for the last few years.

Usually someone on the forum, who happens to pop into the tax office, lets the rest of us know.

By the way, keep a photocopy of your tax return with any workings out you used. They can send you a final account for a year as many as 5 years later. You will need to know what you put on the form.

Here's a photo I took of the rates the tax office has applied over the last few years, which is pinned on their notice board by the reception desk. Hope this helps.
