If you live in Peyia (I don't) then this is your last chance to influence the council and institute some much-needed changes. Once the UK leaves the EU then Brits loose the vote and can't stand for election.

You seem to think 'changing the guard' will change the mindset of Cypriots to protect their own & family interests, dream on!

Excuse me - why would Brits here lose the vote? Russians for example who are living here
and registered same as us have the vote; Russia is not in the EU.
I expect to have my vote here post-Brexit, same as them.
Geoff.

Sorry Geoff, but not true. According to the law, only Cypriot Citizens and EU Citizens can vote in Municipal elections. Russians do vote here, but only as overseas voters in Russian elections.

Unless the law changes, British citizens won't be able to vote after Brexit as they will not be Cypriot or EU citizens (unless they have dual British/Cypriot citizenship of course).

For: Josef K
OK josef, I did not know that - so how come we came here before Cyprus joined the EU
and we got the vote?
Crazy place sometimes!
Geoff.
