Does anyone have experience of using the Caxton Currency Card they are willing to share? On the face of it this card could be very useful here. Their website is: www.caxtonfx.com Thanks, Geoff. |

Hi Geoff, My wife and I have had Caxton account for many years, as we have a daughter in Australia and are out there regularly we were looking for a safe option to carry money in different currencies (stop overs in Dubai, Singapore and others) The Caxton card has evolved over the years and you can now select which currency you wish to load and time it with best rate offered. Downside is rates are a bit less than Currency Fair et al. about 3cents lower per Euro. however there are no further charges for usage at ATMs for instance. It's also ideal for internet purchases as I feel a bit safer knowing it is a pre load card and as such I'm not giving out details of current accounts etc. One other thing, when you load online your money transfers instantly. Are you sure about the ATM charges? If so, the Caxton looks to be a good deal. Can you please confirm. |

Yes, defo corrrect, if for instance you load Euros or dollars etc. they are loaded at rate on that day and can be used in shops or ATMs without any further commissions or charges. I imagine if you had euros loaded and wanted to withdraw dollars then there would be conversion charges, but I haven't tried this. I still transfer larger amounts to my bank in Cyprus via Currency Fair as they only charge 3 Euro per transaction as you probably know, but for what I use Caxton then I think it is a very good option. |

You also need a UK Bank account from which to top up your Caxton card. Geoff. |
