Is there anyone out there who is travelling to Germany?

if so you could possibly help us. At CYDRA http://www.cyprusdogs.eu/home.php we have dogs who have homes waiting in Germany who are waiting to travel and if you are making the journey you could help

We are searching for people who would take one or more dogs with them on their flight.

There is no cost or inconvenience to the traveller. We bring the dogs to the airport in plenty of time, we take care of all the formalities, and see to the loading of the dogs. When you arrive at your destination the dogs will be met and handled by our people who will be expecting them. You do not have to be a dog lover as there is no time you handle a dog, they are in the box all the time they are on your flight

If you can help call out duty phone on 99186878 or email into the website or send me a PM

Thanks
Helen

Good point and my apologies on behalf of CYDRA for you not getting a reply. I will look into the matter and answer as soon as I get a reply from colleagues.

Sorry for the delay in replying which is my fault completely.

The airport authorities know that it is CYDRA who are sending the dogs and have the relevant contact information. If needed the appropriate person is contacted to deal with the matter to either remove the dog or deal as appropriate. Sometimes the Frontline that is required within 48 hours of flying is out of date and the poor dog has to be removed and redone at the next appropriate time, but this has no affect at all on the person taking them.

At no time is the Courier responsible for anything to do with the dog, apart from being the person the dog is going with in theory.

Also remember sometimes it is cheaper to go to Germany and fly from there to UK.

Hope this answers your question and please do not hesitate to contact any of us at CYDRA either by pm on here, through our website or phone as above - I am here to help in anyway I can for the sake of the dogs.

What a fascinating thread.

Two questions, if the person you are seeking doesn't have anything to do with the dog, what's the point? It sounds like the dog is just a piece of cargo, and other boxes etc don't need a person. There must be a catch.

The other question, and one I keep meaning to ask the beautiful Sarah at Pafiwhatsit, is now that dogs can't be drugged, what happens if they keep barking or want a pee r something? Does anyone on the flight bother or deal with it?

Firstly, the dogs mostly sleep in their cages and no food is given to them before their travels because of you know what. It is rare that a dog will wet its own bed, there are always exceptions though - puppies being the main one. As far as I was aware no dog was meant to be drugged before a flight in any case - I know this has been the case for the last 5 years at least if going into UK.

A person is needed because they can then fly as excess baggage instead of cargo. Cargo is a hell of a lot more expensive, whereas a lot of the airlines going to Germany only charge 40 euro if in hold, & 20 euro if a small dog taken into the cabin. We obviously try to get the cheapest way possible for all concerned as obviously new owners have to pay for the tranport, innoculation costs etc.

Hope this answers your questions.

Neil,

All our dogs can understand a multitude of languages - very clever these rescue dogs, seem to know immediately what is wanted as they are given the love they so justly deserve & do as their told out of love.
