Am I able to contact my GP in UK and get a prescription for medication which I can't get in Cy? My thinking is scrip be collected by friend, filled and sent to me here. (Pensionable age!)

Try applying for a repeat prescription.
If your GP is willing to prescribe, just get your friend to sign the back of the prescription when giving it to a pharmacist. Should be no problem (unless your GP needs to see you before renewal of an existing decision).

You can probably just walk into a pharmacy in Paphos and buy what you need - no scrip needed. Only strong pain killers and sleeping pills are on mandatory scrip - well even this is a bit questionable if you know the pharmacist.
