My bedroom 'Fantasia Viper' (13 years old) remote controlled, was switched off with remote, but power was available, started to 'buzz' while not rotating (I was watching TV at the time!!!) I isolated it and made a phone call to Darrell, our local excellent electrician. he suggested it could be a capacitor that was duff, but may not fix the fan to rotate. I sent e-mail to Fantasia in UK and also spoke to their Tech department who suggested I isolate the remote and check fan rotated and light worked which would indicate the motor was OK !!!!(via skype) and they told me what the symptoms suggested. Long and short of it Darrell has been today and replaced the capacitor and I have a serviceable roof fan again for the very reasonable cost of €35 labour and parts. ( I did keep him cool with the A/C on)
