I noticed a couple of positive replies to a poem so why not have that topic choice as well. My first choice is perhaps a bit morose but love the words when I am in that mood but must be plenty of humourous ones as well Should You Go First Should you go first and I remain To walk the road alone, I'll live in memory's garden, dear, With happy days we've known. In spring I'll wait for roses red, When fades the lilac blue, In early fall, when brown leaves call I'll catch a glimpse of you. Should you go first and I remain For battles to be fought, Each thing you've touched along the way Will be a hallowed spot. I'll hear your voice, I'll see you smile, Though blindly I may grope, The memory of your helping hand Will buoy me on with hope. Should you go first and I remain To finish with the scroll, No length'ning shadows shall creep in To make this life seem droll. We've known so much of happiness, We've had our cup of joy, And memory is one gift of God That death can not destroy. Should you go first and I remain, One thing I'd have you to do: Walk slowly down that long, lone path, For soon I'll follow you. I'll want to know each step you take, That I may walk the same, For someday down that lonely road You'll hear me call your name. |

For me, it mostly has to be about humour. Love this one by the great Pam Ayres: FIFTY SHADES OF GREY - (a husbands point of view) The missus bought a paperback, down Shepton Mallet way, I had a look inside her bag; T'was "Fifty Shades of Grey". Well I just left her to it, and at ten I went to bed. An hour later she appeared; the sight filled me with dread... In her left she held a rope; and in her right a whip! She threw them down upon the floor, and then began to strip. Well fifty years or so ago; I might have had a peek But Mabel hasn't weathered well; She's eighty four next week!! Watching Mabel bump and grind; could not have been much grimmer. And things then went from bad to worse; she toppled off her Zimmer! She struggled back upon her feet; a couple minutes later She put her teeth back in and said, 'I am a dominater !!' Now if you knew our Mabel, you'd see just why I spluttered. I'd spent two months in traction, for the last complaint I'd uttered. She stood there nude and naked, bent forward just a bit I went to hold her, sensual like, and stood on her left t*t! Mabel screamed, her teeth shot out; My god what had I done!? She moaned and groaned then shouted out: "step on the other one"!! Well readers, I can't tell no more, about what occurred that day. Suffice to say my jet black hair, turned fifty shades of grey. |

As a lover of music it has to be When music sounds, gone is the earth I know, And all her lovely things even lovelier grow; Her flowers in vision flame, her forest trees Lift burdened branches, stilled with ecstasies' |
