Well poppy as much as i loved Gone with the wind and i have great respect for Vivien as an actress,to me when the subject comes up all the usual names will be in the frame,but for me it is no contest,Bette Davis by a country mile,watch this interview after she retired,it is Bette still at her brilliant best. Probably sounding a bit dizzy but what's the topic/question. The title is Movies. You mention British actresses, then the only really is an American Actresses. Also are we just talking about actresses that have pass away? Whatever the exact topic is it's always impossible to narrow it down to a short list never mind to just one. |

Hi Ali, it is true what you say,never the less peoples choices and their reasons for their choices ,is what makes it interesting,what we actually end up with is a long list of different shortlists,that seems quite normal to me,overall i chose Bette Davis,my choice for best living British actress would be Maggie Smith. Helena Bonham Carter Julie Andrews Elizabeth Taylor Judi Dench Helen Mirren I probably could just pick Helena Bonham Carter, she just done such a mixture of roles. One to watch Emma Watson, I think she's going on to do quite a lot after Harry Potter. |
