As always it depends on your mood & my first choice would always be the sax but any instrument played by a maestro sounds good and would vote for this one as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI3wIHFQkAk Incidentally if we have any budding musicians following the site, James only reached level 3 on the flute so don't give up |

My wife, Rachel, plays the violin. It sounds wonderful when she is playing. I do like electric guitar as well. |

Shirley many thanks for getting us back on topic & contributing to the music section. Seems the violin or "fiddle" is a popular instrument & top guy at the moment is Andre Rieu Loads of great performances by him on YouTube but this one is just for fun. Enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1a0Y4RsyuY |

Oh Poppy sorry I didn't like that one. Fiddle is great, but most violins screech, at least they do to my hearing. Jo |

Hi Jo,i think string instruments sound better if you listen with your eyes closed,i find it distracting if the player has a lot of body movement. Thom |

Nothing better than a solo piano when you hear this piece of music played on it, something about this piece of music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DByMNIqFAq8 |

Excellent last two posts Cannot think of a better way than listening to great music on a dreary day here in England Looks like the strings have it so far but have we missed percussion? |

Dug out from the loft a classical guitar I bought my wife many years ago. The provenance says, built by Di Giorgio in 1975. Will not bore you with her experience of lessons but she gave it up. So here I am with a restrung instument which still sounds good but without a clue what to do next. Too old (too tight ) to take lessons any more so any members with experience of how I can get this instrument back into some sort of life |
