I have heard that you can put 2 dishes into 1 box is this true..
I`ll tell why .. my next door has just moved and he left his dish on the roof, he said to me I could have it , but I already have my dish connected..
So .. I was thinking can I point that at another satalite and then connect both dishes to the same box and have more channels ?

I would phone someone, but its sunday , so best not

What I was thinking ...
I already have one dish that points to the hotbird satalite.
I could have this dish pointing to nilesat , but plug both into the same reciever ..?? do you get what I mean ?

I thought that, but I wasn't sure. You only have one card in the box, so I couldn't figure out how you could get different systems through one box. I am not such a technophobe as I thought I was. :D

When the guy was installing my system,
we were on the roof and he asked, do you want nile sat or hotbird..
I asked whats the diffirence ?
he pointed to the sky and said hotbird is up there
and nile sat is over there .. where do you want me to point the dish?
I have a multi box , it can recieve diffirent satalites..
its a free view box (no card)
I just need to know if it can get 2 at the same time ..

Well you never said any of that, if you have connections at the back of your box for more than one sat dish, then if your box is set up to receive multiple singnals, then go for it but you might need to get your guy in to set it for you :D

I think you will find the answer to this question is a big NO not without some extra equipment.,
I believe you will need a switch box to isolate the signals from the 2 (or more) lnbs'. This site http://www.dishdepot.com/multi_switches.jsp will give you some idea of types available.
Hope this helps

Regards
Brian

Neil,

Yes you can have several sat. dishes feeding into your receiver, but you will need to get a small box ( about €10 from Astrosat ) to connect them up. You will need to make some changes in the setup , dysect I think . Once done just do a scan for all satellites and Bob's your uncle.

Hi Neil

I have a dish with multiple LNB's in my UK base. I use a 4 way DiSEqC switch but as Stormy says you have to make a note of which LNB, dish in your case, is on what reference etc., for the programming on the box. The sat receivers I use are Echostar.

If you can also get a feed from a Sky Sat and you have a CAM (a sort of PCMCIA card that goes in the receiver) called a Dragon (or now TRex) you can even insert your Sky Card, enter a reference to the Sky Digibox that it is paired to, and get whatever you have paid for. The drawback is that every six weeks the Sky Card has to go back into a digibox for updating.

Good Luck m8

I love the techy stuff................the challenge is getting it working !!

Yesterday the TV Sound circuit went phut. New TV? No just spent three hours re-routing the sound from the sat boxes to an old amp and saved a spend.

Hope that was not enough to cause a relapse Neil !!

OMG Neil, I'm definitely going to need that cream I won last week,
I have developed severe frown lines reading this thread!! We didn't bring our TV with us and presently watch TV on our PC...... we had hoped to get connected (there's already a dish on our roof) but I'm seriously reconsidering after reading that!

Will pop in Wed pm to collect prize if that's OK? :D
