Leccy Bill that is!! What did you think I meant?

Now I've got your attention, if you are in Cyprus, was it roughly what you expected. Ours was 255 Euros which disappeared out of our account on Friday as it's a standing order (I think).

Initially I was a bit peeved as it seemed quite expensive, so went round turning everything off (except SKY!!).

Then I thought about how it was compared to the UK. Because we had it set up, along with Gas, as a DD which was the same every month and smoothed out the payments over the year I guess you wouldn't pay much attention to consumption over the colder periods.

In conclusion then, as you don't have the option to spread the cost over the year in Cyprus, are you a bit more careful as you know it's a one off payment every two months? Any thoughts?

Like I said , a bit peeved at first, but when one of my neighbours told me, in a dead pan manner, that his was 600+ Euros I nearly P****d myself

Regards,

Ian

That seems a tad big high.

Have you got a massive house, central heating, private pool etc?

Ours is something daft like 120 euros and that was for the summer months with a/c on full.

We don't have a private pool or Central heating though which will probably make a big difference.

Y

Hi all,

Didn't put too much info in did I!!

We don't have a massive house, but it is detached and we do have a pool. We don't have CH and use the A/C to keep warm as it's supposed to be more efficient. May invest in wood burner or other next year.

It does sound quite a lot mind - how long a period is that for??

Out last bill was 61 Euros (ignore what Peppermint says - you can tell she doesn't pay the bills in our house! :D ) and I don't think we've ever had one more than that.

We don't have a private pool, but do use the aircon units quite a bit.

There's quite a big difference between €61 & €120 so who's pocketing the rest & not telling

 Are you sure you're not lighting the whole street??

Check out the back of your house - make sure there's no funny wires heading off over the neighbours' fences....

Just looked at my leccy bill for December and January and I still think it was reasonable at 143euro as I had been counting on a lot more than that.

Mine from 16.11.07 to 17.01.08 was €111.27 = to £65.12 - I was shocked as I thought that was high for me!

Our normal bill is between CYP40-50 for 8 months of the year then four months normally twice that for the radiators. Our neighbour's electric bill is the same yet they don't live there, that is what the pool costs. :!:

Well I feel a bit of a numpty now! I thought CF was talking CYP pounds not euros on our last bill.

Listen to what he says!

Y

(I suppose this does mean that there's some shopping money to be had with that extra 60 odd euros!! - Hand it over Fantastic!)

Whether you are here or not Trish, it still costs quite a lot to run a pool in electricity.

I guess thats why ours is about the same throughout the year, cos of the running of the pool.

Are you all running loads of fancy applicances, or is it just the pools that whack the bills up??

Lisa, the common denominator for you and Pete is the oil filled radiators. Do you think these are creating the expense?

You could be right Verity, but we didn't have our's on for that sort of time, 3 rads each on for 1 hours in the morning, 1 on for 1 hour at night, 1 on for 3 hours at night & 1 on for 30mins every 2 hours at night

So approx 7 hours in total a day   thats a lot :o
