I bought a mattress from a certain shop off the Polis Road and it was delivered just under three weeks ago. I had paid a deposit on it and the outstanding amount was paid when the mattress was delivered. Both the payments were by UK sterling cheques.
When the mattress arrived at the house we were on our way out so it was later on in the evening when we took it out of the poly bag only to discover it was absolutely filthy!!
I telephoned the shop the next morning and was told by the owner he had ''a special machine'' to clean it and he would try to get out to me that afternoon! (Saturday) He didn't arrive so I phoned the shop again on the Monday morning and was told that the chap was away and wouldn't be back until the Wednesday afternoon!
I have just about had enough of being ripped off so I phoned UK and put a stop on both cheques. Needless to say I knew I would get a phone call just as soon as the chap realised there was a problem with my payment. The call came today so I told him to come and collect the mattress which he has done.
In my opinion if the cheques hadn't been stopped I would still be waiting for the shop to contact me.
What atrocious customer service this shop has, in fact it hasn't any at all so this is one place I won't be returning to.

Why was the mattress dirty, if it needed steam cleaning then sounds to me like it was second hand!!

Okay, the name of the shop is Payless Homestores Ltd. it is the one that sells the ex Argos stock.

Diane, I don't know about the mattress being second hand but the one I got rid of was a LOT cleaner
than the one that was delivered here!

Sue I was just about to post the name of the --SHOP-- we had a lovely English divan from them and the very same thing happened I refused the mattress and was told the same as you -- I went along with his plan and the chap came to CLEAN the said mattress --he dragged it out onto the veranda and set the cleaner going --OMG one soggy mattress--I told him put it on the van and take it back-he did and I followed to shop--the boss man said I could choose my own from down stairs --BRILL new mattress. I wont shop there again even after getting the new one. So well done Sue --try Steptoe Marj

We bought our bed and headboards from a shop on the Polis road.
I am happy to name them as the product & service was excellent. They stored our special order for months while our developer locked us out. They made special headboard to fit our UK bed. Good quality at a reasonable price
