And here am:-

OK my shopping list from Poplife in August 2005

3 ceiling fans (managed to burn out the bedroom one last September)
1 TV - still going strong
1 DVD player - still going strong
1 wooden TV unit - still looks lovely
1 electric BBQ grill thingy - I think it's still OK, just never got the chance to use it last year (always at work)
1 set of garden furniture - still really good
2 sun loungers - still looking good
1 set of crockery - yup, still good
1 canteen of cutlery - still good
1 mobile phone - still good although just updated to a pink one
1 Hotair brush

I really do not have a problem with Poplife (as you've probably realised by now  ). When we were putting the TV unit together my friends husband managed to break one of the glass doors  I went into Poplife, and went for the sympathy vote, saying I had done it (acting like a helpless female  ). No problem, he says, I will order another one for you. He rang me while I was waiting to check in at the airport, so I sent a friend to pick it up, but he had given me a pair of doors, free oc charge, as he could no longer get a single door to match. Another time, when I thought the battery had gone in my phone, I went to buy one, but first of all he checked my phone out, and it turned out to be the charger, not the battery!

A lot of people decry Poplife, but I have to speak as I have found, and I have found them to be OK - however, having seen how some people return goods to them in a very bombastic manner, I can see how this would get the guy theres back up. If I have a problem, I always approach in a calm manner, and ask for assistance, I have found this usually works for me - people who go in "demanding" will only be disappointed.

I haven't had any problems with Poplife myself but I can see that in Cyprus in general, not just Poplife, that women get away with a lot more if complaining about something than us men do, so maybe that's the way to go about it, if you buy something that breaks down send the women to get it sorted

We have two TVs that we bought from Poplife nearly four years ago and going strong.

Two gas fires (one was replaced without any problem) still going strong.

One washing machine - still going strong, although I sold it for a washer/dryer.

One blender that overheats even if blending ice cream and he would not change it, even though I had only had it a few days.

So mixed feelings with me.

Sorry .. but I had to get the paphos consumer association onto them ,, I bought a mobile phone that never worked , It was sent of to be repaired , it still never worked ...I got suspicious ,, so I took into a nokia shop (near the police station) the woman took it out the box, which I had bought it in.. straight away, she said this model of phone does not come in this type of box

But I have to say ,, 1 phone call to the paphos consumer association and they gave me my money back..
The phone number is here

We've had a few small bits and bobs from there with no real problems, but I probably wouldn't choose them for a more expensive purchase as I have heard a few tales of problems taking stuff back.

yes i think she should although i must point out that i did what jean said and carried out my complaint politely even after my wife was treated very badly making the complaint before me, the attitude left a lot to be desired, so needless to say after all else failed he got back as good as he gave, anyway thanks to you all for your input to this its very much appreciated, regards bill.

I've had 2 air conditioners from them in may, one 9000 BTU and one 12000 BTU, both worked throughout the summer, 24 hours a day, no problems. Also had a fridge since may, not a problem with that either. Oh and some patio furniture!

hi all
Im my humble, I wouldnt buy anything that you can plug in from there. I do buy non electrical stuff off them though and not had a problem.

When I was a newbie here(and knew no better) I bought an electric frying pan from them. There I was, happily cooking away when kaboom :explode and there I was sporting an instant Lenny Bennett perm! Made everyone else laugh but I decided it didnt suit me....

There a great electrical shop on the road to polis as you past the sulphur spring turn it about 5k on the left. We brought all our air con 4 units, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, telly, satellite, fans. He is so friendly, a great chap.We had a problem with the washing machine and he sent his son within 1 hr of phoning him and he sorted it there and then. I would honestly say that the service i get from these people is 100%, nothing is to much trouble for them.

We have also had superb service from this guy.
Unfortunately I don't have his telephone No and he does not have a web site.

mornin all

I went to Electrolife(little shop nr bank of Cyprus on Polis Road) and got all electrical stuff - wish I'd have got the pan from there and I wouldnt have had the Lenny Bennett look...
Ask for a discount if you're buying a lot as Yiannis was quite good.

Anyway, 3 and a half years later all is still working - fridge,tv's, washing machine, tumble drier plus small electrical things. Had one problem with one of the tv's after the guarantee had run out, he collected it on a Thursday and it was back home good as new by first thing Monday morning - impressed me as the Friday was a bank hol! And there was no charge...

I am on my second kettle though, don't remember how I killed the first one! I treat this one very nicely and use Dr whatsits limescale stuff on it so maybe thats why it still works?

I think it pays to shop around.

I have brought from poplife a drinks fridge - still ok after 2 years - a rotary washing line - just broke in the winds after 2 years and replaced it with another from there - at £15 thats not bad, a gas fire - we did change the regulator on it though.

I did grab a set of kitchen steps without checking them and they are going back this afternoon - so I'll update on the treatment I get later.

The little Orph's nr Tomb of the Kings has it J, its in a small box on the back aisle by various other descaling, cleaning and wotnot stuff.

Its called Dr Beckmanns I think and its about 4 euros, takes half an hour and hey presto, super clean kettle. Also works on irons, shower heads and even though it doesn't say so, Ive put it in the washing machine.

I usually do the kettle every four to six weeks as I do hate looking in it and seeing all those nasty white bits floating around so its safe for anyone to have a hot drink in my house as I did it on Monday. :D

I always use bottle water for our kettle. It make's tea and coffee taste so much better so softer to drink.

Vinegar stinks though and takes ages to get rid of the smell...

Dont think the other supermarkets have it, well they dont in Paps but try Carrefour, they may have started stocking it.

I use Calgon liquid in the machine every week but the Dr stuff seems to work better used once every few weeks. I just put it in and stick it on an empty wash - seems ok.
