Paphos People

I was wondering if any members have experience of being in the general hospital, or having operations in Paphos? My husband and I would appreciate feedback on this topic, as we are a bit worried about the care/aftercare offerred by the hospital. thanks, Martha Clarke

my wife had to go into the general hospital a few years back,
when she had a miscarriage , they were great with us ..

Hi Martha - I've moved this into the main Day 2 Day forum for you - will probably get more people viewing in here.

Martha, I had fantastic care before and post op when I had a rather large hernia sorted.

The time from going in for a consultation to the operation was 9 days. The only thing to bear in mind is that sometimes the post op care appears less lavish than in the UK. The food is not measure by Egon Ronay standards (but is adequate), families often give cleaning and clothes changes. The system works very well and has done for a few years.

If you treat the staff with respect they will treat you with the same and you may avoid some of the frictions that can be met when being over aggressive

I was in there April 2009 for 5 days for a hip replacement, apart from the meals which a bit naff the treatment and after care could not be faulted, you have to get used to the noise and coming and going late at night, my wife had a 2 week stay recently for a kidney infection the treatment and care just as good, the only fault she found was being in a mixed ward.

The Hospital is spotless, the care excellent (though most of the menials speak no English) and the food is poor and may probably need supplementing (or replacing) with food brought in by visitors. I shared a two bed room with a Cypriot woman who was very ill, but her relatives were nice The thing I missed most was a good cup of tea, but thankfully my stay was short.

I have recently had my gall bladder removed (stones, well it looked more like sand). The care was brilliant before and after and as I am a diabetic that was looked after also. Food? Forget it. A BBQed chicken and cup of soups were a great help and one could use their kitchen for hot water. Admin. forget it. but that had nothing to do with the care.

I went into the General in May this year for a hip replacement and I must say that the attention was very good. Most of the nursing staff speak English and I was well looked after although the food isn't much to be desired but thats a minor detail. Mandyr

At the beginning of July spent 5 days on the medical ward. Could not fault them except for the meals, please note I did not call it food.
