Ok so today i have 12 days left in the Uk and sleep is becoming a problem, after packing 5 suitcases yesterday and getting the inventory for my house out there i have been awake since 5.30am this morning.....im even up before my mum today

I feel like a big child going on holiday, but im not im starting my new life and im soooo excited, trouble is i usually make myself ill with excitement....not good!!!

Just thought id share this, is it just me or were you all the same when you were moving???

Red wine helped, Sam. I found that when I got too wound up to be effective a huge glass of the stuff put me back on track.

The white wine has been flowing well here since we found out that mum had sold the house, but i might have to give the red wine a go as it does make you sleepy!!!!

Moving is exciting and stressful. You feel sure you are doing the right thing - but you don't know for certain sure. There are a million and one things going through your mind.

Sleep? It seems like a waste of time when time is so short.

I wish i could sleep for a week when i get there but wil have sooo much to do, and ill be even more excited once i move into my house.....i think im a lost cause

A lot of us have been there already and know what you are going through, but you are moving over for a quieter life style so you have to learn to slow down and take each day at a time and enjoy.

I have only got 8 days left in Wales as i am coming down to Kent to see my family before i fly from gatwick...think that might be more of a reason i am panicking now

Indeed there are also members from rochester and just down road from us and maggie travels to london and chats to one of them.

Oh sam i was exactly the same its awful when you cant sleep. When you close your eyes 101 things go round your head have you done this have you done that nightmare. The thing is its like christmas when you were little, and you are moving at a brill time of year getting gradually hotter we moved in august so my settling time was winter not good at all and it didnt help my homesickness at all. But everyday its getting better as the sun shines hotter x Plus you are so organised it will be a breeze and you will have your mum in the same country and you already know loads of people on here. So just enjoy it now all the tidal waves of feelings x And i bet you cant wait to drive past the sea and think wow i live here Alex x

It gives me goose bumps (good ones) just thinking about my new house and the sea, i sure do love the drive past helios bay towards peyia the sea always looks so shiny.

I know what you mean - when I was getting ready for the move, I used to feel really "strange", and couldn't sleep! It was weird, because I really couldn't see myself living here, and I kept thinking it was all going to go horribly wrong, I was going to get sick and not be able to move - but of course, it didn't and here I am!

The funniest time is when I'm driving along Poseidonas or Tomb of the Kings and all the tourists are out. I drive along with the windows down, saying to myself I live here, do you know I live here! Any opportunity. It's like pinching myself to make sure it's all real. Especially this coming year when I'll be retired and my time will be my own.

Don't worry - if you're tired enough, you'll sleep, and you'll still be running on adrenalin for quite some time. Enjoy it.

Couldn't sleep before I came to Cyprus and haven't slept since.........

But how I love just laying in the sunshine relaxing and not 'having' to get ready in the morning to go to work.

and when I know my children are coming to visit sleep is bottom of my list.

The way I look at it dont worry about sleep, cos there is too much to enjoy and you are a long time dead, so plenty of time for sleep then.
