I know this is a strange request, but has anyone ever used a private detective in the UK?

How do you go about employing the services of one, and does anyone know how much information they can actually find?

If anyone has any information, and would prefer not to post it, please pm me. Thanks.

I have seen a sign at the traffic lights opposite the court, for Investigator, don't think they are called P. I's anymore.

Would imagine you call in for an appointment and take it from there.

Verity,

I haven't used one or know of anyone who has, sorry.

But that's a job that I would love to do!

Hope your not going to do something you may regret Verity?

Pam :D

Not doing anything I haven't thought about very carefully.

It is the a UK P.I. that I need. I just have this picture in my mind of a sleazy guy in a sleazy mac in a smoke filled attic office somewhere. Obviously watch too many B movies.

I will have a look on that link Frank, but if anyone has any experience of using a P.I. I would be grateful if you have any advice. It is not something I have done before and I am a bit reticent about it.

Hi Verity,

We have a number of retired coppers in Peyia - If you need a chat I can text you a number of an ex-cop who would be able to offer advice, or I could ask him to give you a call. He might have some contacts that may be of use.

Regards

Digby

They are very good, but depends on what you are looking for i.e cheating husband or wife that very easy to do. There so much technology now a days that each person can get a device for £70 that will track your cheating partner down where ever they are. So say your partner say he/she working late you can go online and check to see where there car is or phone. If he /she leaves car and phone at office there are still ways off finding out,put a tracking device under his/her collar, so small that it be very hard to notice, unless he /she thinks they are being checked on, and looking for such a thing.

Missing person, now that can be very very hard and very expensive thing to do. As if you do hire a private detective they would want £50 gbp per hr plus, with no guarantee to finding them

They are not men/women in long black coats smoking pipes, they are just like me and you NORMAL.They have to look the part and blend in, so they do not get notice, as if they do get noticed then cover blown and a lot of time and effort been wasted.

P.M me if you need any more advice, as i know a private detective  I can give you there number if need be

Can't help Verity I'm afraid but I am glad that the link was put on for that other website (it's something that I have said to hubs that we would want to look into before the little ones get mobile phones)! Hopefully, that's some way off because they're only 8 and 6 and a half (the twins are long past tracking!!)

Come on Verity, spill the beans, maybe us here in the UK can set you up a spy network, nut I loved this phrase:

Reminds me of a politician.

Interesting.

Verity I have also thought about using an investigator but unsure if their evidence is admissable in Court plus the expense would be more than we could handle at the moment.

I don't need to track Phil - I have had him for 33 years and I think we are fairly solid.

I don't want to take anyone to court, so don't have to worry about information that would or would not be admissable.

I am not going to say what I want a PI for because it is personal - I know I am an open person, but even I have a private life.

Speaking to an ex-copper might give me some information to help me decide whether to proceed, or indeed whether I can find the information I want myself if I am pointed in the right direction.

Thanks for the information. I have some starting points now.

Hi Val. The Salvation Army won't be able to help me. I am not after a missing relative. But I know they have a tracing service if you have a decent amount of information.

Sorry if I have got people wondering. I just thought that as so many people read the forum it was a way of maybe getting some information to give me a starting point.

Which it has.

I am still a bit iffy about it, but I will make some enquiries.

Hi Verity,

Can't help personally but i would suggest a yell search and only consider the ones with websites. Be careful not to go for the ones that sit in call centres and do google searches! I could do that for you! I'm have successfully located 2 people in the past.

Whatever your reasons, i wish you luck in your search and i hope you find the resolution you are looking for

Lolly x

Thanks Lolly. But what is a yell search?

I am a bit of a technophobe and can never find anything useful off the internet.

You know me, Molly. I can be spontaneous with life in general, but I put a lot of thought into things that are important.
