In your view, what do you think is the best place to rent for 6 months next year please. Pros and cons would be good.

Thanks

Personally I would go for Chloraka every time. However, I must declare some bias against Peyia, for mainly irrational reasons.

It all depends what you want from the area in which you live. Therefore, with a bit of a tongue in my cheek, I would say that if you want to live in a Brit community where many properties are empty and/or up for sale, there are lots of hills, little public transport, and you are a bit further away from the action, then Peyia is for you.
If you want to live in a mixed thriving community, that is mainly on the flat with access to better public transport, and is nearer the action, then Chloraka is for you.

Having said all that, I live in Paphos, so what do I know.

Pause while the roof falls in.

Ive moved 4 times since Ive lived here (in my 5th yr) until I found where I am now In Emba its mainly a Cypriot residential neighberhood and they are all very quiet and pleasant families. Ive also lived in Kissonerga, 2 places there. If you have transport Chloraka, Emba, Lema, Kissonerga are easily accessable to Pafos Town, Coral Bay, Peyia etc. If you have no transport, its pretty essential here try & rent somewhere along the Tomb Of The Kings Road its got the only public transport thats worth mentioning.
Have a look at a few property website see what they have to offer and barter on the rental price, its a renters market out there

Thanks , that was really helful. Its difficult to know what I really want, I want somewhere quiet and safe but not like a ghost town, but with easy access to bars, shops etc, although i like the idea of a village rather than tomb of the kings road. Lots of property to rent, but its the area that Im finding it really difficult to decide on. Im coming alone for 6 months and im intending on doing open university stuff, lying in the sun and not much more.

Hi
I moved here on my own and have never had a problem with the places Ive lived in, Its down to personal choice, but I like living in a local neighberhood its seems more like you are actually living here, if that makes sense.... :doh Takes 10 mins into Pafos Town & 5 mins to my nearest beach, well it would if they ever finish the road works :banghead :banghead

For six months, it matters not a jot, wherever you rent, it will allow you to travel and have a look to see what suits you, think of it as an extended holiday.

we are here for 6 months now

came here end of oct

like you we looked at all kinds of places

but in the end chose peyia

and for us it was most definitely the best choice

but it al depends on what you are looking for.peace and quiet.laid back.busy centre location?

we wanted peace, quiet and wonderful views

and got it in spades full

we are staying on the eastside of peyia out in the mountains... stunning sea views to be had everywhere.

we have car hire........at a very reasonable rate for the time here...at.9 euro's per day for a 4 wheel drive

Peyia is a wonderful location

quiet......which is what we wanted.....but still if you want to....bars.........taverna's,...... supermarkets......., fruit and veg shops........post office,........... butchers......bakers etc etc all very close by in the village

we will be here for xmas.........and the village square has been wonderfully decked out in xmas lights.far nicer than paphos in our honest opinion

the local people are extremely friendly and helpful

we have seen no crime at all

and we are enjoying every minute of our stay

please pm me if you want to.for any further information

we drive over to chlorakas..and other areas....to their supermarkets...... occasionally
but for us we love our hillside location better

horses for courses

we love the tranquillity.friendliness, accessibility to all areas from our hillside coastal position.with views to die for

centre of Paphos, tomb of the kings, and paphos harbour is @ a 15 mins beautiful coastal drive away, coral bay with it's beaches, and all of it's bars and taverna's is a 5 mins drive away

so we can be right in the thick of things if we want to as well as being quiet

we will be rebooking for 6 months for next winter

but

you will need a car if staying here

we also don't feel as if it is a long stay holiday

6 months is a long time........and we really are "living" here during our stay.......and not holidaying

merry christmas

maggie :christmas

There is NO other place for anyone in Cyprus but PEYIA.

We have almost everything for the discerning resident.

Looking forward to meeting you soon.

Stayed in Peyia for 6 months in 2008, and again for 2 months in 2010, and loved it both times.

It is worth staying in Peyia for the drive along Banana Bay alone.

Easy access to Polis and Latchi, as well as wonderful drives up to Polemi/Kallepeia etc.

15 minutes from Peyia to the centre of Paphos?????????

Maybe 25 would be more accurate?
